Congratulations to Caitriona Hughes, daughter of Walter and Mari, Bundoon, Killoe who exchanged nuptial vows with Dermot Bland, Fenagh, Co Leitrim, joined by family and friends in St Mary’s Church, Ennybegs, Killoe. Afterwards a sumptuous reception was enjoyed by everyone in the Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. The parish also express good wishes to Dermot, Caitriona and their families for many many years of great health and happiness. Also congratulations to Glen Campbell, son of Peggy and (late Pat), Corneddan, Killoe who exchanged nuptial vows with Laura Mulligan, daughter of PJ and Mary, Aughnacliffe, joined by family and friends in St Mary’s Church, Colmcille last week. Afterwards a very enjoyable reception was held in the Lough Allen Hotel, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim. The parish wish Glen, Laura and families many years of married bliss with great health and happiness.

Motor Neuron

A 5km Rosie Run/Walk will be held in Loch Gowna, Co Cavan on Sunday, 20 July 2014. Registration at 11.30am. Race commences at 1pm. Adults 10 euro, children 5 euro. All proceeds in aid of the Motor Neuron Disease. Refreshments served on the day. Further details contact 086 3582788/ 087 6622483.

Mass cards, flowers etc on the unexpected bereavement of our dear sister, Margaret Ellen (Elsie), nee Kiely, formerly Ennybegs, Killoe, daughter of late Tom and Mai, sister of late Maurice, wife of Harry, mother of Christopher, Sarah, grandchildren, UK. Elsie was laid to rest last week in Gillingham, Kent, UK. May she rest peacefully.


Congratulations to Raymond Igoe, son of Sean and (late Theresa), Kellether, Killoe who exchanged wedding vows with Noelle Tuthill, daughter of Tony and Kay, Dublin joined by family and friends in our Lady’s Assumption into Heaven Church, Enniscrone, Co Sligo. A reception was immensely enjoyed by everyone afterwards in the Ocean Sands Hotel, Eniscrone, Co Sligo. The parish extend god wishes to Raymond, Noelle and their families for a future filled with great health and happiness. Also congratulations to Clara Brady, daughter of Berney and Maureen, Boher, Killoe who exchanged nuptial vows with Cormac O’Reill, Crusherlough, Co Cavan joined by family and friends in St Mary’s Church, Ennybegs Killoe. Afterwards a lively reception was enjoyed by all in the Glover House Hotel, Co Cavan. The parish extend good wishes to Clara and Cormac and families for a great future of good health and happiness.

Church news

St Marys, Ennybegs Masses Wednesday/ Thursday at 10am, Friday 10am. The new US flag now flying in our Titanic memorial garden was sourced by Charlie Malone, New Jersey Borrough council man whose wife Kelly is grandniece of James Farrell, Killoe. Titanic hero. This flag originally flew over the United States capital building in Washington on St Patrick’s Day 2014, as stated with accompanying certificate.


The employment Development Information centre Longford will be holding their annual church gate collection on Saturday 19/ Sunday 20 July 2014 at all masses in the parish. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Blessing of Plaque

A plaque in memory of Sean McGoey in appreciation of his dedication to community life in Killoe will be blessed after 9.30am Mass at Cullyfad Community Centre on Sunday, 20th July. This plaque has been erected by community groups in Cullyfad. Everybody welcome. Light refreshments in the Centre.
