Meet as usual at 10a.m. on Saturday morning. Great to see the facelift at Lower Main Street - the finishing and painting look great. Right now the green areas facing the main approach road are of concern - the entry for the National Tidy Towns Competition is near complete and we depend on residents to present their green spaces to the highest possible standard especially those facing onto the main approach road.

Ballinamuck Essert Twinning
After a very exciting, fun and educational exchange in France last year, it is now the turn of Ballinamuck to welcome their French twinning partners in July this year. If you would like your children to benefit from these fun and educational experiences, become involved either through hosting French children similar in age to your own or hosting one of the adults. The group will consist of seven girls and six boys ages between thirteen and seventeen, three eighteen year olds and thirteen adults. There is already an exciting programme of activities planned including camping in Outdoor Discovery, Ballymahon, trips to Lough Key and Tayto Park as well as games, arts and craft activities all designed to build friendships and shared knowledge of our cultures. There have been approximately twenty exchange visits with participation in French musical events like this year’s Celtic Festival in addition to the yearly exchanges. The young people of Ballinamuck have gained hugely in their social and educational development as a result of these exchanges. The young people have gained in confidence from living with host families, made friends and often gone on to study French at third level. All of this activity is underpinned by very active twinning committees in Essert and Ballinamuck. Committee members fund raise through the local Lotto, bag packing, church gate, pub quizzes etc. If you would like to be involved in any way please contact the Chairperson Paddy Howe (0879613312).
