Bank Holiday

Bank Holiday

The May Bank holiday brought a mixture of weather with a continuation of the recent dry spell of weather but the bank holiday itself brought heavy rain in the morning. The Ploughing Match in neighbouring Ballymachugh was a big attraction for young and old. Unlike last year conditions are favourable for the farming community and some householders are already heading for the bog.

May Day

Thursday was the First of May and officially the start of Summer. There is an old tradition of erecting a May Alter in the home where a statue of Our Lady is surrounded by garlands of wild flowers. The local Drama and Variety group staged their ZERO 14 show in the parochial hall over the weekend to packed audiences from near and far. The glittering programme of music, song and dance which included all age groups, went down a treat and there is no doubt that there is a host of fine talent in the parish while some “visiting artists” received a rousing welcome.
