Ardagh/Moydow/Glen Community Games
Our U-14 and our U-11 Tag Rugby teams competed in the County Finals recently. The standard of the teams in the competition was very strong and our teams played brilliantly on the day.
Our U-14 team comprising of Aoife Sheridan, Colm Hoysted, Diarmuid Sheahan, Gareth Mulleady, Kevin Lynch, Kyle McConnan, Rebecca O’ Kane and Sophie Hogan met Killoe in the semi final. The teams were well matched and provided the spectators with great entertainment for 30mins. However Killoe proved the stronger team on the day and progressed to the final.
Our U-11 team comprising of Cathal Farrell, Conor Hogan, Emily Garcia, Jack Gallagher, Jack Mulleady, Katie Lynch, Leah Sheridan, Melissa O’ Kane, Ronan Keenan, Sarah McPhillips and Sean Hogan met Newtowncashel in the semi-final. The AMG team proved to be the stronger team on the day and progressed to the final where they were up against Killoe. Both teams were very strong and it was a very tight match. The spectators were once again provided with a fantastic game and the AMG team proved the better on the day and emerged victorious. Thank you to our coaches David Farrell, Brendan Hogan, Paddy McPhillips and Andrew Lynch, and thank you to all the parents for their commitment in having them at the weekly training sessions.
County Swimming Competition took place on the weekend gone by. We will bring you the update on how our boys and girls fared in next weeks edition of the Longford Leader.
Our Sports day is in the Ardagh GAA pitch on May 10 with registration commencing at 1.30pm, events commencing at 2pm sharp, so please turn up in plenty of time to get organised. Entry fee of €2 per entrant. Lots of events with a few novelty races thrown in so fun for all promised on the day.
We are also continuing our Health Eating theme so there will be a selection of fruit/water available on the day so leave the fizzy drinks, sweets and crisps at home. Remember that two children qualify for progression to the County Finals in Ballymahon in June. Also please note that your child’s age category is based on what age they are on July31, 2014. eg: if you child turns 8 on or before 31/7/2014 then they must participate in U-10 events.
