Cycle and Climb
The 4th Annual Glenn Brady Memorial Cycle and Climb from Longford to Croagh Patrick will take place on Sunday, June 1. This is a very enjoyable and rewarding challenge, setting off from Longford at 4.30am to complete the 147km cycle and then take on the 3.5hour climb of Croagh Patrick. The popularity of this event has grown massively since it began in 2011 and 2014 will be bigger than ever. So thereâ€™s plenty of time to get the training in over the coming weeks. What you experience at this festival of Irish traditional music will depend to a great degree on what you go to find. The festival will include a line up of music, song, dance and language competitions. Virginia Gospel Choir
The Virginia Gospel Choir will perform a Concert on Sunday, May 25 at 6pm in St. Maryâ€™s Church, Granard. They will be joined by Jackie Callaghan and other All Ireland winning musicians from the World Academy of Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick as well as St. Maryâ€™s Church Choir. This should be a wonderful evening and tickets (â‚¬10) will be on sale in the coming weeks. All proceeds are guaranteed to go to Rath Mhuire and Dolmen Services for their work in the local community with older people at Rath Mhuire Centre and Dolmen Centre. Flora Womenâ€™s Mini marathon

We would always welcome new passengers on board the services; it is open to all age groups, with FTP holders travelling Free. Single Fare is â‚¬3 and Return is â‚¬5, for under 65 years. For our local region of Granard/Abbeylara, there are 2 Friday services into Granard = via Robinstown â€“ Abbeylara â€“ Creevy/Cloughernal and in the Afternoon = via Derragh â€“ Killasonna â€“ Lisryan to Granard.
