Chernobyl Orphanage

Emily and Aisling Hughes, Farragh, Killoe are travelling to Chernobyl in early April to visit the orphanage in Belarus, home to 130 children and young adults and would appreciate donations of warm hats, gloves, scarves,socks any mp3 players, ipods, personal CD players or small toys (all in working order), would be most welcome. Collection points in local shops, Ann Hughes, Kiernan’s Forge, Begleys Pub or telephone 085 7514551. Emily and Aisling will compete in the mini marathon to raise funds for the purchase of basic supplies for the orphanage with sponsorship cards now available and your support will be appreciated. All travel costs/ expenses will be paid by the girls themselves.

Pioneers

All youth enrolled as young pioneers will be presented with pins and membership on Sunday, 2 March 2014 (Temperance Sunday). Adults are free to consider taking a “short term pledge” to abstain from alcohol for Lent.

Killoe old graveyard

Booklets titled “Resting in Peace” are now available from Frank Hughes or any committee member. Booklets include a map showing location of headstones/ tombstones. Cost 5 euro also available at Hughes shop Ennybegs.

Art & Model-Making Competition

Our Community Games Art & Model Making Competition will be held on Sunday 2nd March 2014 from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. in Enybegs Community Centre. ART – Boys/Girls Age Category - U8 over 6, U10 over 8 , U12 over 10, U14 over 12, U16 over 14. An entry must have a Community Games theme and may be a painting, a drawing, a collage or a cartoon. The title of each entry must be clearly marked on the front. The name, address date of birth and signature of the competitor must be on the back. Art paper will be supplied. Please bring your own pencils, crayons, colouring pencils etc. MODEL-MAKINBoys/Girls Age Category - U10 over 8, U12 over 10, U14 over 12, U16 over 14. An entry must have a Community Games theme. Please bring your own materials and a base for the model. The title of each entry must be clearly marked on the front of the model. The name, address date of birth and signature of the competitor must be displayed with the model.
