Congratulations to Ebenezer and Edwina Segatu, (nee Dewart) on the recent birth of their baby boy. A welcome grandson for John Dewart, Cornagran, Loch Gowna.


Sympathy is extended to Thomas and Benny Sweeney on the recent death of their brother, Seamus Glan, Kilcogy. May he rest in peace.


With presentation night on March 1st for Movembers Grow to Give Campaign, Carmel Simpson would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people and businesses that sponsored, supported or helped her in any way in her bid to raise money for Longford Hospice Homecare in memory of her mother Bridie Corry. Because of everyone’s generosity Carmel managed to raise 6,117 euro. Thank you all so much.

Richard Keith

It was with great sadness that the local community learned of the death of Richard Keith, Clonloskim, Crossdoney. Richard died suddenly in Perth, Australia on Monday, 10th February. His remains were removed to Kilmore Cathedral, Cavan on Friday, 21st February and following funeral service at 2pm burial took place in Cathedral parish graveyard. To his parents, David and Gwen, sisters, grandmother, extended family and friends, we extend our deepest sympathy.


A book on the history of the Holy Family Church, Loch Gowna from June 1903 to January 2014 including the installation of the stained glass window in colour on sale at Loch Gowna post office. 10 euro per book.

Social dance classes

Social dance classes continue in the Pikers Lodge Hotel every Tuesday night from 8-10pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a night of dancing and exercise.

Senior Scor

Well done to all four acts who took part in the senior Scor county finals on Friday night last. Gowna are celebrating as solo singer Marie Pierson had a convincing victory on the night. Marie will now go forward to represent Cavan at the Ulster semi final on 14th March in Kilyclogher, Omagh. We wish her the best of luck. Congratulations to the Junior Scor Ballad Group who appeared on the TnaG TV programme Scor Encore on Sunday night last. Laura Brady, Doireann Boylan, Nicole Hartin, Caoimhe Madden and Rebecca Madden done themselves proud. We done to all.
