Church Break-In

It is very regrettable that this week we have to report that a number of church items and a small sum of money was again taken from the Secret Heart Carrickedmond some time on Friday afternoon last. This is the second time since Christmas that our local church has been broken into. People in the parish are again reminded to be on the lookout for any suspicious movements or cars around the area. If anybody has any information regarding any suspicious movements around Carrickedmond church on Friday afternoon last please contact Ballymahon Gardai.

Enrolment for New Pupils

To St. Sinneach’s N.S. Colehill will take place in the school each day between 1pm and 3pm during this week. For more information contact the school office at 044-9357466.

Spring Stations

The following spring stations will take place in the coming weeks for the following town lands in the parish. At the home of Betty Martin on Wednesday, 26th February at 8pm for the Clonard area. At the home of PV McEntee on Monday, 3rd March at 8pm for the Ratharney area. At the home Joe and Shirley Mc Cormack on Friday, 21st March at 8pm for the Colehill area.

Defibrillator Group

A course for new people wishing to learn the skills of CPR and how to use a defibrillator will take place in Carrickedmond Hall on this Thursday night, the 27th February commencing at 7pm. Ballymahon Library

Please note change of opening hours at Ballymahon library as follows. Monday – Closed. Tuesday – 10am to 1pm and 1:30pm to 8pm. Wednesday – 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5:30pm. Thursday - 2pm to 7pm. Friday – 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. Saturday – 10am to 1pm.

GAA 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk

The local GAA club are organising a 5K/10K fun run/walk which will take place on Saturday the 10th March next. The event will commence from the GAA complex in Carrickedmond at 11am with registration from 9am to 10:45am. The course measurement complies with IAAF rules and has chip and pin timing. Prize giving and free draw for all participants at 12:30pm in the GAA complex. Refreshments also provided on the day. Entry fee is as follows. €10 walkers, €15 runners and €30 for family of four. Tidy Towns AGM

The re-scheduled Abbeyshrule tidy towns AGM will take place in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on this Wednesday night, the 26th February at 8:30pm. All interested is invited to attend.

Folk Group

Rehearsals continue in Carrickedmond church on Wednesday nights from 8pm to 9pm. Next folk mass will take place in Carrickedmond church on Sunday 30th March ’14 at 10am mass. New members always welcome.

Badminton

Continues in the hall on usual nights for adults and children. A club social night will take place in the Rustic-Inn on Saturday night the 19th April with music by the very popular country star Ciaran Rosney. Dancing from 10pm - 1am. Sympathy

Deepest sympathy is extended to Eddie Joe Kenny, Abbeyderg and the Kenny family, Legan on the tragic death of Eddie-Joe’s sister, Bernie Kenny, Legan last weekend. Bernie who was a very friendly and popular lady was very well known in the Carrickedmond area through her involvement with various parish and community organisations in our neighbouring parish. May she rest in peace.

Parents of children who serve mass are asked to please return the documentation relating to Child Safeguarding to Fr Tiernan by next weekend.
