Hospice Shine a Light cards
The cards in aid of Roscommon/Mayo hospice are available locally from Tess Barrett, Mary Byrne, Carmel McHugh, Johnny McHugh, Amanda/Claire in doctors surgery, Deirdre Duffy, Evelyn Hanley, Hugh Oâ€™Brien, Tighesâ€™ Centra, Rooskey, PJ Diffleys, Centra, Tarmonbarry and Flynnâ€™s Dangan.
The choir will be performing the last or their five part Christmas concert series in Strokestown parish church on Sunday, 22nd of December at 8pm. Admission optional. All monies raised go to the Lourdes assisted pilgrim fund.
Kilglass/Whitehall special needs group and Kilglass Gaels are hosting a tribute ski honouring Brian King on Christmas morning. If you are interested in helping out there is a meeting on Thursday night 19th of December at 9pm in the clubrooms.
This takes place in Bornacoola GAA grounds at 2pm on New Years day. You can walk, run or jog a mile and be entertained afterwards in the Copper Still by Charlie McGettigan, actor/playwright Seamus Oâ€™Rourke, Laura Reynolds and Sean Mahon. Many wonderful items up for auction, all monies raised go to help those affected by famine and disasters. Please support.
Winning numbers this week were, 17, 14, 19, 23. 2 x 3 number winners each receiving 100 euro, Margaret Cox and Paula, Ronan, Aimee, Chloe. Draw takes place next Saturday in the Weir Lodge, its the Christmas draw and there is 500 euro extra in prize money.
Dynamo are hosting their annual St Stephenâ€™s day football match on December 26th at 2pm in Quinnâ€™s field in aid of Hospice. Rooskey v Bornacoola, come out and support them on the day!
Commiserations to all those children who took part in the county final in Athlone on Sunday last. Well done to all involved and their mentors. This time it wasnâ€™t to be, but given the young age of the participants there will be many more successful years ahead to come for them.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Pat Costello, Tarmonbarry who died recently. May he rest in peace. Please pray for the repose of the soul of Kathleen Oâ€™Brien, nee Giblin, sister of Eddie Giblin, Derryfeacle, who died recently in England. May she rest in peace. The death took place on Sunday last of Ann Boland, (nee Hogan), New Rooskey. Ann was a lovely gentle lady and a well regarded and respected member of the community. Annâ€™s funeral mass took place to Rooskey church on Wednesday last. Deepest sympathy is extended to her devoted husband Eugene, her extended family, carers, and many friends. May she rest in peace.
The arrangements for the above are as follows; Monday 23rd of December, Rooskey church at 6pm, Whitehall church at 6.45pm and Strokestown church at 8pm.
Christmas Eve: Slatta church at 7.30pm, Rooskey church at 9.30pm. Christmas Day: Kilglass church at 10.30am, Rooskey church at 12 noon.
