Legan branch of St Christophers wishes all its patrons and helpers at the various fundraising events a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. The Christmas draw will be held in Slowey’s on Monday night December 23rd. There is an impressive array of prizes to be won including 20 bags of turf, bottles of whiskey, vodka, Christmas pudding, tins of biscuits, chocolates etc. Thanks to the providers of the said prizes. Their continued contribution to the cause is very commendable. The creator of the Christmas cake, Alan Harrison has issued a warning to whoever wins the Christmas cake, ie don’t drive for at least one full day after partaking of same ! Come out and support the draw on Monday night.
Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday 9th December in Mitchells for a jackpot of 8,300 euro. Numbers drawn were 9, 12, 18 and 20. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners were Inny Anglers and Slowey family, each 50 euro. This week’s draw took place in Connaughton’s Rathowen. Results will be published next week.
We regret to report the death of Fr Brendan Gorman, formerly of Breaney, who passed away in his parish of Bedford in the Diocese of Northampton where he administered for a number of years. He was a frequent visitor to this area and often celebrated Mass in Legan. He was popular with all who knew him and will be missed by his brother Packie who resides in the family home in Breaney. We extend our sincere sympathy to his brother Packie, sister in law Cathy, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

County Longford Social Services will hold their church gate collection at all masses in the county on 21/22nd December. Please support generously.
A Christmas fundraising evening in aid of Community for Independent Living will take place in Cooneys Hotel Ballymahon on Sunday 22nd December starting at 7.30pm. Hampers and spot prizes galore to be won on the night. Come along for some Christmas cheer, finger food and music. All money raised will go directly to services in the community for people with disabilities.
Longford Community Resources Ltd (LCRL) manage and administer the Rural Transport Programme, which covers the rural regions of county Longford. Many thanks to all the passengers and stakeholders who have supported and indeed campaigned for the continuation of the programme throughout the year. Spaces are still available for this “Door to door” service in this area. All age groups are welcome. A very happy and peaceful Christmas and good wishes for the new year” to all passengers of Rural Transport services.
Legan ICA would lie to thank all that supported their flower arranging demonstration fundraising night. All funds raised will be donated to local society of St Vincent de Paul, AWARE and Hospice. As donations are still coming in a final total is not yet available.
