The country’s latest Lotto winners are planning to go on a pub crawl around Rooskey as soon as they have collected and cashed in their €2m winning jackpot.

Alan Hogan said he and his 35 other syndicate members from the Co Roscommon town’s VistaMed facility would share “a drink or two” once all the excitement from their weekend Lotto win had died down.

The group hope to travel to Lottery headquarters in Dublin tomorrow (Thursday) where each will receive €55,000 in prizemoney.

“Everybody is still on a high,” admitted the warehouse operative, who purchased the winning ticket in Swanlinbar, Co Cavan.

The Belfast native learned of the news at the weekend, but somehow managed to stay silent until work resumed on Monday morning.

“The manager was trying to get everyone together in the room, but I couldn’t help it and ran in shouting: ‘We’ve won the lotto’.”

Only a matter of days on, he told of how he intends spending his new-found wealth.

“I have two children and I would like to give them €10,000 each, put some of it away and keep a little bit for myself,” said Alan.

And despite their good fortune, Alan said the group intend to continue playing the Lotto as they have done for the past five years.

“I might go to a different shop this time and see how our luck is,” he laughed.
