Cavan who died on Sunday 29 September, Sister in law of Collette McGahern, Glan Bar, Mullahoran. She is sadly missed by her beloved husband and best friend Thomas and cherished mother of Ciaran, Chanelle and Charlene, Brothers John, Patrick, Edward, Thomas, Brian, Matthew and Francis, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Temple Street Children’s Hospital
A very big thank you to all who turned out in Abbeylara Saturday Night the 28 September to support Temple Street Children’s Hospital & Team Feely as they prepare for the 2013 Temple Street 4x4 Challenge. Walk in Derrycasson Wood
A guided walk with Mr Pat Brady from Coillte will take place in Derrycasson Wood on Thursday 10 October (weather permitting) at 2.30pm. This will be a very interesting event and everyone is welcome to come along and hear of the history of the area; the trees; flowers and fauna. Please remember to wear suitable footwear.

A Diary is available at Granard Area Action Group office to enable local voluntary groups and fundraising events to log their forthcoming activities for the year so as to help co-ordinate events successfully and to avoid duplication where possible.

We urgently require helpers for the ongoing work in order to keep Abbeylara clean and tidy. We would like the people who are bringing bags with empties to the bottle banks, to place the cans, bottles etc. in the appropriate bins and bring their plastic bags and boxes home. We will be calling an AGM at the end of October. All present members are stepping down and new members are required in order to keep the Tidy Towns going. Looking forward to seeing lots of new faces at the AGM without Tidy Towns our village wouldn’t look the same.
Help is needed with this project in Lus Na Greine, Resource Centre, Granard. We would welcome volunteers to give us an hour or two to help develop the garden, herbaceous border, annuals, seed sowing etc. Contact the centre on 043 6660977.
In an effort to raise finance and in order to ensure that Granard will have Christmas lights for the streets of the town during the festive season a Fundraising night will be held in the Bay Horse on Saturday 26 October. There will be music and a fancy dress on the night with prizes of €500, €300 and €200. There will also be other various Spot prizes on the night. Tickets are on sale at €5 each or a book of 20 for €100 in various shops and from committee members. A great night’s entertainment and laughter is guaranteed!!

The 10th annual Gallant 15km Challenge in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice Cavan takes place Saturday 26 October 2013. The main sponsor is MacManus Pharmacies Cavan. People can walk, run or cycle the 15km from Cavan to Cornafean or choose the smaller course of Ballinagh to Cornafean. Over the previous nine years the Challenge has been an outstanding success raising 262,000 euro for this wonderful cause.
