The Newtownforbes Friends of Longford Dyslexia Workshop/St. Christopher’s Autism Unit are holding a sponsored Cywalkleathon (cycle, walk, run, bed push) on Sunday 27th October. The route is Newtownforbes/Tarmonbarry/Rooskey – Newtownforbes (25 miles). Sponsorship cards are available from Mike O’Reilly, Castle Inn, Newtownforbes or entrance fee €20. Fancy Dress fundraiser in aid of St. Christopher’s Autism Unit and Longford Dyslexia will be held in the Complex, Newtownforbes on Thursday 31st October 5pm – 8pm. Children €5 - adults free. Music, facepainting, games, etc. Prize for best dressed boy/girl.

Songs of Praise
A Song of Praise Harvest Thanksgiving Service will take place in St. Paul’s Church, Newtownforbes on Sunday 13th October at 7pm with special Preacher Bishop Ferran Glenfield, Bishop of Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh. Please join us for praise and refreshments. Everyone is welcome.
Under 8 and 10 girls football training is now finished for the next few months. Training will resume in early Spring.
Huge congratulations to Ronan McCormack and Diarmuid Masterson on their respective grading in Lanesboro Dojo last week. A great achievement for the lads who did themselves and their club proud. We would also like to thank Sensei Kevin McKenna and his club for their welcome and cooperation. Training continues every Monday evening from 7-8pm and students are now gearing towards their next grading. Through the Age
As part of the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of St. Mary’s Church, built in 1864 the Parish Pastoral Council is proposing that there be a photo exhibition of photos of parish life, sporting, social and religious, through the ages. This exhibition will probably be put on in the Parish Hall sometime in 2014. Now is the time to start looking for old photographs – from the time the camera was invented!! All photos will be handled with care and returned to the owners. More details later.
