Contact any club officer or check out the club website Championship Final: Arva played Kill in the Hotel Kilmore Junior Football Championship Final on Sunday last in Kingspan Breffni Park but were defeated by a well taken free just on 60 minutes. Kill got a great start and led by 1-4 to nil after 9 minutes but Arva fought back and the sides were level at half time. Kill went 2 points ahead after the restart but Arva pulled one back before Gavin Doyle hit the net to put Arva ahead by 2 points. Kill came back with 3 points to lead again before Arva hit 4 points to lead by 3 points with 6 minutes left. That was as good as it got for Arva as 4 pointed frees for Kill edged them into the lead just before the long whistle. We congratulate Kill and commiserate with our Arva players and Management who gave everything on the day. Arva team Sean Donnelly, Shane Finnegan, James Morris, Sean Mc Manus, Stephen Ellis, Thomas Brady, Shane Mc Entee, Gavin Doyle (1-0), Ciaran Brady, Jonathan Mc Cabe (0-1), Peter Morris (0-1), Fergal Mc Glade, Alan Barry, Kevin Bouchier (0-5, 4 frees), Brian Ellis (0-6). Subs Patrick Murtagh, Conal Sheridan, Brian Fitzpatrick. The team got a great reception when they arrived back in Arva with a large attendance on the Market Square for which they are very thankful. Before the game started a Minutes Silence was observed as a Mark of Respect to the late Sean Conneely who passed away last week. Sean was a President of our club and a Trojan worker for the club over many years.

The football club have come up with a novel fundraising venture which will take place on Saturday 16th November called the Croagh Patrick Challenge / Clew Bay Walk. As the name suggests the club is challenging people to climb the Holy Mountain or for those not able to instead do the Clew Bay Walk. A bus will leave St Patrick’s Hall, Arva at 7.30 that morning – stopping enroute for refreshments. Participants will have use of the leisure facilities in the Castlecourt Hotel in Westport the evening to ease away the pains. Sponsorship Cards are available in Arva Post Office and the club is hoping for a good response. Hard luck to neighbours Dromard who were defeated by Longford Slashers in the Longford Senior Championship Final also on Sunday last by just 2 points.

They are in the process of raising funds for this orphanage by doing the 10k Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa and are looking for as many sponsors as possible to raise funds. They are also holding a Quiz night in the Loughbawn Hotel, Killeshandra at 8.30pm on this Friday 11th October and they would appreciate as much support as they can get. All funds will be delivered personally to the orphanage. These children have nothing - not even enough food and that is why they are on this mission seeking all your support. Looking so forward to seeing you all there. If you are unable to attend and would like to support this very worthy cause then please contact Jacque Pratt 086 1005801
