Lotto Draw: St. Columba’s G.F.C held their weekly lotto draw in Keogh’s on Wednesday 8th May. The numbers drawn were 3, 11, 18, 24 with the Jackpot of €2500 remaining intact. Ladies Footballers: As part of their fundraising activities the local ladies football club are holding a weekly draw based on the bonus ball in the main draw of the national lottery. Sheets are on sale in local shops or are available from any club member. Match the bonus ball in Saturday’s night draw you will earn yourself €20. Lines are just €2. Six monthly tickets are available for €50 by contacting Marie Matthews. Your support would be very much appreciated each week. Results of last week’s will be published next week.

Reminder: The 3rd Annual Cycle and Climb to Croagh Patrick for the Parish of Granard Lourdes Invalid Fund, will take place on Saturday 1st June. 2012 was a very successful and enjoyable day as over forty cyclists completed the event. Many more also participated in the climb. We hope this year will be equally successful as there is plenty of time for any aspiring cyclists to get into shape. A special event to launch this year’s cycle will take place on Saturday 4th May starting at 9.00a.m with a Static Cycle ‘’1500km from Granard to Lourdes’’ followed by a Fancy Dress Party in John V Donohoe’s on the same night. Open Air Festival: The Colmcille Mentally Handicapped Association will hold its annual open air festival at Dring Car Park on Sunday 2nd June. Situated on the shores of Lough Gowna this event is always a fun day for all the family. Events will include Baby show, Face painting, Jumble sale and much more. As usual there will be music to suit all tastes. We appeal to all to keep this date free. Your support will help out a very worthy cause – St.Christopher’s School. More details later.

First Communion: Congratulations to the following children who received their First Communion at St. Columba’s Church on Sunday last: Liam Byrne. Emmet Brady. Niall Langan. Leah Hanlon. Andrea O’Reilly. Siobhán Leonard. Lisa Marie Leonard. Sarah Flood and Ellie Fitzsimons. We compliment their parents, teacher Anne McCabe and Fr Fitzpatrick for havimg the little folk so well prepared for the occasion.

Tidy Towns: Judging for tidy towns competition will take place soon. All are requested to look after their area. Please ensure weeds, litter and grass are under control. Thanks to all for their co-operation.

Craggy Island / Ted Festival: On Saturday 25th May Craggy Island/Ted Festival comes to Coolarty at 6.00 pm in McElvaneys. Events include 5K nuns on the run, lovely girls’ competition, wellie throwing, Eurovision song contest, BBQ, DJ and prizes. Fancy dress essential!!....Ah come on....come on....come on. Proceeds in aid of St. Christopher’s Services, Longford.
