WEDDING: Congratulations to Charlene Kiely, daughter of Brid (and the late Maurice) Clontumpher Killoe who exchanged nuptial vows with Stephen McEvoy, son of Peter and Pauline Ardglass Co Down joined by family and friends in St Peter and St Pauls Church Athlone Co Westmeath last week. Afterwards a sumptuous reception of fine fare was enjoyed by everyone with music to beat the band plus the added bonus of a cruise on the Shannon to whet the appetite. The parish also extend condolence to Mary Rose O’Connor and families Ard Mor Park Road Longford on the sad bereavement of her husband John (Sean) ex Garda Siochana who was laid to rest last weekend. To his wife Mary-Rose, sons Ciaran (Elegant Interiors, Longford), Sean, Christopher, daughters Catherine Caroline Marissa, brothers/sisters in law, sons/daughters in law extended families friends expressed sympathy. Requiem mass was celebrated in St Mels Cathedral Centre with burial in Ballymacormack cemetery. May he rest peacefully.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Our U10 Mixed Gaelic Team played in the County Final on Monday, the 6th. May against Edgeworthstown with Killoe winning with a very impressive score of 6-9 to 2-1. It was a great performance and a very exciting Final. Well done boys and girls – keep up the good work. Best of luck in Leinster Rounds against Meath. Many thanks to Kevin Prunty, Tom McManus, Helen Reichert, Martina Reynolds and all those who helped and trained the U10’s. Our U12 and U15 Girls Soccer Teams are through to the Leinster Rounds – best of luck girls. Our U13 Boys Basketball Team took silver in the County Final recently – well done boys. Litter Collection: Just a note of thanks to Mr Andy Dowd of Longford Tidy Town’s Committee for organising a Litter pick with his Group of Volunteers on Tuesday last the 23rd, and also to the Cullyfad village enhancement Committee who had there Litter Pick ,Well done all let’s keep the parish Litter Free. Fine Gael: It was with shock we heard of the untimely death of our dear friend and colleague, Councillor Paddy Belton. Our condolences to his sister Maureen, Brother Louis J, sister in law Mary, brother in law Val, to his nieces and nephews and to his fellow councillors. Paddy will be a great lost to his immediate family, friends and to the Community he represented for so many years.
