Community Games: Please note that this Thursday 16th May Clonguish Community Games field and track events are being held in Allen Park GAA grounds at 6pm sharp. All welcome. On the 7th June 2013 a gala night will be held in the Stags Head, Ballinalee. This Hall of Fame award ceremony is being held to honour and show appreciation to individuals who have dedicated time and energy to Community Games during the past forty years. One or two members may be selected from each parish and they will then represent their own area in the Hall of Fame Awards ceremony on the 7th. Clonguish Community Games are asking the parishioners of Clonguish to nominate a person or persons they feel deserves this nomination. Remember we are looking for people who have been involved at any stage or stages during the past forty years. Please put pen to paper and give one of our worthy parishioners an opportunity to receive the recognition they deserve for their personal time spent working for Clonguish Community Games. Nominations can be placed in the ballot boxes which have been left in the following outlets: Smyth’s Supermarket, Bell’s Supermarket, Casey’s Pub and McGowan’s Pub.

May Stations: The following Home Station Masses will be celebrated in the month of May. Friday May 17th at 7.30pm for the Briskill area at the home of Séan and Michelle Ghee. Wedding Bells: Congratulations to Michael Murphy, Treel and Orla Walsh who were married in the Parish Church of Ballinakill, Co. Laois recently. We wish the newly weds health and happiness for the future.

SIAMSA: An Irish Language Summer Course (SIAMSA!) will take place from Monday 8th July to Friday 12th July in Gaelscoil Longfoirt.  The course will take place from 9.30am to 3.00pm each day and will cater for students from Third to Sixth class.  Further information and applications forms available from Yvonne Ní Mhurchú 087-2642665.

Tidy Towns: To encourage Biodiversity in our Community, a Composting Workshop will be held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday morning 15th May from 10am - 12.30pm. The talk will be given by Craig Benton and people are encouraged to bring along samples of waste e.g. hedge cuttings, weeds, used tea bags, vegetable peelings, etc. Craig will show us how to create a composting site in our own gardens which will help to improve our soil quality & save money.  We are fast approaching Adjudication day which is usually the first week of June and unfortunately the weather is not doing us any favours yet. The return of the cold snap has again postponed our flower planting but we are still out weeding, mowing, painting and litter picking to keep the village looking its best. We are urging people to look at their own property and if you think windows need to be cleaned or paintwork washed or spruced up please consider doing it a.s.a.p.  Tickets for the Fáilte Abhaile BBQ are being bought up rapidly and thanks to everyone who has generously supported us so far. If you miss a local seller, tickets are available in Bells and Smiths.     

Race Night: Newtown Football Club is holding a race night in McGowan’s Pub, Newtownforbes on Saturday 25th May at 9.00pm. Please support.

RehabCare: RehabCare & Ann Mahon would like to thank everyone who donated prizes for our pub quiz and everyone who supported RehabCare by attending the night in Casey’s pub Newtownforbes.  800 euros was raised for RehabCare. Thank you.

Sympathy: Deepest Sympathy is extended to Anne Duke and family, The Village, Newtownforbes on the death of her mother, Christina Kerrigan, Navan. May she rest in peace.
