COMMUNITY GAMES: Next weekend 25th & 26th May 6 children from Carrickedmond will represent Longford at the National Community Finals weekend 1 in Athlone. We have Ava Bresling taking part in the U8 Art on Sunday, Aimee Higgins running in the U13 Cross Country, Aslinn Egan, Jenna Mills, David Mills and Sam Mills taking part in Swimming. We wish each of the competitiors all the best at the weekend and be very proud to be taking part and to enjoy the occassion. We are training now in preparation for the County Finals on Sunday 9th June in Ballymahon. All children will be notified by text of day and time. Senior Citizens Mass: A special social gathering and mass will take place in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond on this Wednesday the 22nd May at 3pm. This is an opportunity for all senior citizens from the parish to come together for a special mass and blessing which will be celebrated by Fr Tiernan PP. All senior citizens from the parish are invited to attend this parish event. If anybody would like transport to this parish event please contact Fr Tiernan at 0449357442.
Exams: Best wishes are extended to all boys and girls from the parish who are preparing for second and third level exams at this time. Hopefully all will achieve the marks and results they deserve.
CADG: People who sat the CPR/AED course in February last are due to sit their 90 day re-certification on Tuesday night the 28th May in St Sinneach’s hall Carrickedmond at 7:30pm. All concerned will be notified by text. Following this course all will be presented with their certificates. The group are at present preparing to re-certify for the Heart Safe Community award. When recertified this will confirm the parish’s status as a Heart Safe Community and is certified by the Irish Heart Founditation. This is the second time the parish has achieved this important award. The Carrickedmond/Abbeyshrule defibrillator group remind all in the parish to make yourself familiar with the location of the defibrillator nearest your home. Please note in the event of a cardiac arrest or choking incident happening dial 999 or 112 and ask for an ambulance. First Holy Communion: Congratulations to all the boys and girls from the parish who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday last. A full list of all the boys and girls will appear next week.
Sincere Sympathy: Is extended to Mary Maloney, on the death last week of her mother Anna-Mai Donlon, Ards, Kenagh and to Nora O’Farrell, on the death of her uncle, Fr Michael Killian, Drumcong Leitrim. May they rest in peace.
Best of Luck: To Barry O’Farrell, panel member and the Longford senior team who play Wicklow in the first round of the senior Leinster championship on Sunday next. Hopefully Longford can come home with a win.
