Student Awards: Lenamore National School would like to congratulate two past pupils who received very prestigious awards this week in Ballymahon Vocational School. Glenn Watson won “Student of the Year” and Joseph Murphy won2 “Academic Student of the Year”. Well done Boys and we are all so proud of you.

Community Text Alert Meeting: A meeting to set up a Community Text Alert service for this area will be held in the Aurora Hall, Legan on this Friday 24th May at 8.30pm. Members of An Garda Síochana and other Guest Speakers will attend. Everyone welcome.

Inny Anglers: Results of Inny Anglers Lotto draw held in Casey’s Carrickboy for a jackpot of €2,200. Numbers drawn were 2, 8, 11 and 20. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were Ann Butler and Bridget Murphy €40 each.

St Joseph’s Young Priests’ Society: Legan/ Ballycloghan Branch are holding their AGM in Ballycloghan on Tuesday 28th May at 7.30pm. New members are urgently needed to continue the activities of the branch. It does not demand great effort or time – a meeting once a month followed by Mass and Adoration, Diocesan meeting every three months and prayer for an increase in vocations to the priesthood. Priests are needed. Prayer is the most powerful force on earth.

St. Christopher’s: Legan branch meeting will be held in Slowey’s on Friday night next, May 24th, at 9.30 pm. Items for discussion will include the proposed charity auction and fund raising bash in the Oasis at the end of July. Flyers will be distributed to all households inviting people to donate items, new or old for auction. All contributions to the cause will be gratefully accepted. Breege and her Ramblers are lined up to entertain at the event.

Walking Club: This Saturday May 25th the Walking Group will meet in Abbeyshrule for their weekly walk. New members always welcome.

Best of Luck: We wish Brian Molihan who has taken over the well known licenced premises Casey’s of Carrickboy the best of luck. Brian is well established in the business having ran a similar business in Ballymahon for a number of years. We wish Vincent Casey and his family the best of luck having taken a break from the business after twelve years of service to the community. We would like to thank the Casey family for their hospitality, friendship and contribution over that time.

GAA: Results of GAA Lotto draw held in Slowey’s for a jackpot of €6,750. Numbers drawn were 7, 9 14 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €50 each were Declan O’Neill and Fintan Snr. This week’s draw took place in Molihan’s Carrickboy and results next week.

Greyhound success: Well done to Pat Byrne, Corracorkey whose Greyhound Coolamber Bugs won had a great win at Longford Greyhound Track on Friday 10th May. He led from start to finish. Well done Pat.
