LOTTO: The next lotto draw will be held on Monday the 4th March, the last draw held was the 18th February and the Jackpot was 8400, the winning numbers were 7, 12, 22 & 25, there was no winner of the Jackpot and the drawn winners were Kate Keegan, James Nulty & Claire Nugent. The Jackpot is now 8600 so well worth buying a ticket, tickets cost 2 a line or 3 lines for a 5 and you can get tickets in the Post Office or Connaughton’s Pub and don’t forget the local sellers. SYMPATHY: We offer our sincere sympathy to the Lynch family in Cappagh on the death of their father John Joe Lynch last Thursday. John Joe had reached a great age of 92 and after a 2 week stay in Mullingar Hospital he passed away. To his children Phil, Mary, Kathleen, Bridie, Teresa and Paddy and all extended family and friends we send our sincere and heartfelt sympathy. John Joe’s funeral was held last Saturday 2nd March and burial in Russagh. May he rest in peace.

CONGRATULATIONS: We would like to congratulate Mary Farrell, Corrydonlon on becoming a grandmother. Mary’s daughter Bernadette and her husband Jayson Rowe have welcomed a new addition Alexander Rowe on the 18th February in Brisbane, Australia. We send the new parents our congratulations and enjoy the night feeds!!!!! Welcome baby Alexander Rowe.

Date for your Diary: Westmeath County Fleadh Committee are hosting a Fundraising Night in Feericks Hotel on Saturday 16th March next. Music by Joe Connaire High Stool and Friends. Admission 5 with various Raffle Prizes on the night.

TIDY TOWNS: Rathowen Tidy Towns are starting every Saturday from 10am to 11am for the litter picking. We are asking residents to come out and get pickers and bags and help clean up the litter in our village. We’re starting at the Longford side of the village and walking down as far as Winetown and then back in again. When the evenings stretch out a bit longer we will do an evening during the week as well. All help would be gratefully received.

LEGAN VINTAGE CLUB: Legan vintage club are holding a raffle in aid of the DPOL 1st prise is a Massey Ferguson 20 Tvo. Tickets cost 5 per ticket or a book of five tickets for 20. Tickets can be got from any club member. Draw will take place in the village house Rathowen on 5th of October 2013
