Tidy Towns News: Save the date - June 2nd Newtownforbes is reaching out to friends and family from all over the world, calling them home to a Gathering Event on June 2nd. It’s the perfect excuse to reach out to those who have moved away, their relatives, friends and descendants, and invite them home. So now it is over to all of us. It is in our hands. Lets be part of it. The Tidy Towns committee, in conjunction with Clonguish GAA is hosting a Fáilte Abhaile Barbeque in the complex on Sunday, the 2nd of June. So mark your calendars and invite all your friends and family from home and abroad. More details to follow.

Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu International Karate: As promised we now have a full list of all medal winners from our recent competition in Kilglass. Gold medal winners are as follows: Neil Devlin- Kata, Donagh McGrath-Kata, Kamille Burke-Kata, Johnathan Burke-Kata, Alyx Devlin- Kata & Kumite. Silver medal winners: Conor Smith- Kata, Ronan McCormack- Kata and Kamille Burke- Kumite. Bronze medals winners: Hannah Burke - Kata & Cian McCormack - Kata. The sheer number of medals won by our students at the competition went well beyond our expectations and huge congratulations to all who took part regardless of whether or not they took home medals. You have all done yourselves and your club proud. Our club would like to say a huge welcome to your two newest members- Rachel McGrath and Candy McDonagh. We also wish to remind our students of our upcoming grading which takes place on Monday 25th March at 7pm. As not all students are eligible for consideration for grading this time round it is very important that each student checks with Sensei Ann as to whether or not they are grading. The Cilleo Yew Tree Players: Are busy preparing for their upcoming production of John B. Keane’s ‘The Chastitute’ which takes place in Ennybegs Community Centre on 21st, 23rd, 24th and 25th of March.
