Fun Day: On Saturday 9th March Ballymore Ladies football club will host a fun day including registration for the coming year for all girls aged 8 and upwards in Ballymore Pitch at 1.30pm (1.30pm to 3.00pm). Bring a friend, come along and join in the fun!
COUNTRY MARKETS: Granard country market held their annual general meeting on Friday morning last and the following officers were elected for the coming year. Chairperson: Alan Harrison, Vicechair: Maggie Norton, Secretary: Angela Durkin, Treasurer: Pat Wilson, Assistant Treasurer: Evelyn Stafford, P.R.O.: Eileen Kilbride, Controller: Ann O’Hara. The market is open from 8-30am to 11-00am every Friday morning in the Town Hall and watch out for Mother’s day, St.Patrick’s Day and Easter goodies over the coming weeks.
HILLSIDE CLUB: The Hillside Club will meet in Currycahill Hall on Wednesday next at 11 o’clock. Mary’s team on duty.
BABY GIRL: Congrats to Joe and Claire Murtagh nee Farrell,Ballinalee on the birth of their second child a baby girl.
BIRTHDAY: Best wishes to Colm Nugent who celebrated his 30th last weekend with a party in Farrells for family and friends.
GARDA: A member of the Gardai from Granard will be in attendance 2 days a week Monday 1-3pm and Thursday 4 – 6pm at the old credit union office next door to the post office. This will be for a trial period of 3 months to assess the level of need. Please utilise this service.
OLD CLONBRONEY: Work has started on the clearing of Old Clonbroney graveyard with a joint scheme between Fas and the Rural Social Scheme. This has been badly needed to be done in a long number of years. We hope to maintain it throughout the year.
HOMECOMING FESTIVAL: Date for your diary August 23-25 for the Ballinalee Homecoming Festival weekend. Please let your relatives abroad know this date as we do our bit for the Gathering. More details in coming weeks.
CLONBRONEY COMMUNITY GAMES: Pitch and putt trials will take place on Saturday March 9th at 4pm for anyone U16 interested in taking part in the community games pitch and putt competition. St Patrick’s Day Parade – Clonbroney Community Games will be entering this years parade to launch the healthy events initiative which we are taking part in. If any child or adult is interested in participating just text the names to 086 3882221 and we will let you know drop off collection points. Basketball – training continues with Deirdre every Friday at 3.15 in Canon Kelly Hall in Granard. 2 euro required towards rent of hall or 3 euro per family.
