Fine Gael AGM: The 2013 AGM of the Tarmonbarry Branch of Fine Gael was held on the 18th February in the Lodge. Deputy Frank Feighan and Cllr Sean Beirne addressed the well attended meeting. A number of local and national issues were discussed including reform of the Constituency and District areas. The election of officers for 2013 was chaired by Deputy Frank Feighan. Affiliation fees were collected on the night and all outstanding fees must be paid before the end of April for voting rights. New members are always welcome. The officers elected were: President - Paddy Gearty and John Doorley; Chairperson - Leo Cox; Vice Chairperson - Jim Faughnan; Secretary - Linda Doorley; Treasurers - Lena Spollen and Sean Doorley; Organiser - Adrain Cox; Youth Officer - Sean Doorley; PRO - Jim Faugnan.
St.Barry’s GAA: Intermediate training continues every Friday night. There next game is on the 23rd march against st ronans. Our registration / membership is now due. Fees for 2013are as follows: Adult €40, U18/Student €20, Family 2 Adults + 2 children (u18) €60, Additional €10 per extra child up to a maximum of €80. A Final registration night will take place on friday night from 8-9pm in the clubhouse. it is very important that all players have paid their membership. U6 & U8 Training will take place in Kilglass Gaels sports centre on friday nights at 6pm. It is now compulsary for all players from minor downwards to wear mouthgaurds at Training and matches.
Ladies Circuit Training: A ladies circuit training class will continue on Tuesday nights at 7:30pm and Thursday nights at 8pm in St Barry’s clubhouse. This will be a fun keep fit class combining Toning and Cardio Exercises, to music, suitable for all fitness levels. Adults €5, Adult(non member)€7 and Student €3. For more info contact Micheal Colligan. Our U-16 girls will play Four Roads on Sunday next at 4pm in Four Roads. Our junior ladies play Shannon Gaels at 12 noon on Sunday in Tarmon. Our Kilglass Gaels/St Barrys minor team were defeated by St Faithleachs recently by 13pts to 10pts. Training continues for U-16 and minors on Wednesday at 7:30pm.

Sanctuary Players: What an outstanding performance by Sanctuary Players in the Backstage Theatre, Longford recently in their performance of John B Keane’s play The Highest House on the Mountain. Well done to the cast of Seamus Garvey, Donal Kelly, Lorraine Cox, Damien Wallace, Stephen McGuinness, Liz Leavy, Mickey Hoey and David Murtagh, Director Donal Kelly.
