Dromod Garda Station Closure: A recent announcement by the Garda Commissioner that various Garda Stations around the country are to close, this included the closure of Dromod Garda Station. Many residents have expressed their anger and dismay that Dromod Village will no longer have a Garda presence. If you want to voice your concerns there will be Petitions in local businesses around the village, please feel free to sign these petitions and they will then be forwarded to the Garda Commissioner.
New Baby: We would like to send our congratulations to Conor and Dijana Gray, Dromod on the birth of their first baby a girl to be named Isabella born in Mullingar General Hospital before Christmas to the delight of proud grandparents Danny and Lily. We wish you health and happiness for the future.
Sympathy: We would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of the late Pat Campbell, Corneddan, Ballinalee who died on Christmas Eve at his home. Pat was laid to rest in Aughaboy cemetery on Thursday last. May he Rest in Peace.

Eslin Slimathon: Once again this January Eslin gaa are holding a slimathon and there will be a pre slimathon walk and run Sunday next at 12pm start from Community Centre refreshments afterwards 2013 Slimathon registration night Friday, 11th January at 8.30pm.
Badminton returns: Badminton returns to Mohill Sports Complex on Wednesday night January 9th at 8pm all are welcome.
Change of Times Community Welfare Officer: A note to hand to let you all know that The Community Welfare Officer will be in attendance in Dromod Health each Tuesday from 2-30 pm to 3-30pm, this is a change from the original morning slot from 10-30 to 11-30.
Sing for pleasure: We got the Christmas spirit off to a great start on Monday December 17th when a local choir “Sing for pleasure” performed a concert in Cloonturk Church. The choir ‘Sing for Pleasure’ was started in Jan 2012 by Catherine D’Arcy and consists of 15 adults who sing informally and who have no prior training! Catherine is a trained teacher and musician now living in Cloonboney. She has family links to Ballinamore. A great hours entertainment was enjoyed by all who attended, the choir was joined by some members of the “once a year” Cloonturk choir. There was a collection box at the door and €160 was donated by patrons and was delivered next day to St Vincent De Paul.
Winter Swimming Courses: A note to hand to let you know that Winter Swimming Courses will take place at Riversdale Ballinamore. Adult Swimming Lessons (Monday nights) 7-30pm until 8-15pm Aqua Aerobics (Monday nights) (only a few places available) 8-15pm until 9pm Children Swimming Lessons (Thursday Nights) 6pm until 8pm. All courses run for 10 weeks. All courses commence week starting 14th January 2013. Booking night for all courses is Monday 7th January at 8pm.
