Fishing competition: Results of Les Moulins Du Temple open boat fishing competition that took place on Thursday December 27 on Derries Lake – 1st Marty Cosworth, Dring; 2nd Terry Brennan, Cortober; 3rd John Boyle, North Longford; 4th Jason Carr, Drumlish; 5th PJ McStay, Gowna. Heaviest fish caught in 2012 was won by Joe McDermott, Longford. 16 boats participated. Next competition on Sunday January 20. More details later.
Gowna gathering: In 1988 Gowna won the senior county football and camogie championships. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of those events as well as community achievements in culture, tidy towns, social housing, community hall developments over the past 25 years. This New Year, please send out the message to family and friends overseas – return to Gowna over the August bank holiday weekend 2013 and join the Gowna Gathering Festival celebrations.
