St Patrick’s Arva GAA Club: Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Club Rooms on Monday night 15th October. The Jackpot was €1,900-00 – Numbers drawn were 4 / 6 / 22 / 30. No winner . €50 winners – Phil Brady, Arva. Mary O’ Reilly, Crott. Seamus Daly, Arva. On Monday night last 22nd October the Jackpot was €1,950 – 00. Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. Annual General Meeting: - The AGM of St Patrick’s Arva GAA Club will be held on Sunday 25th November in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex and we urge all supporters and players to attend.
Table Quiz: – Arva GFC will hold a Table Quiz in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex on Saturday 10th November and all support will be appreciated. More details later.
Calendar Launch: The eagerly awaited launch of the Arva GFC 2013 Calendar takes place on Saturday 24th November in the Breffni Arms Hotel. This promises to be an evening of fun and craic with a well known Celebrity present to do the honours. Make a note of the date and don’t miss out.
Ladies Football: Training for all age groups takes place each Saturday at 11.00 am sharp. The Club welcomes all girls interested in playing football but especially those born in 1997 and 1998 as well as girls born 2003 to 2005.
Scór na nÓg: Arva GFC are busy preparing for this year’s Scór na nÓg competition and looking forward to participating in Gowna Community Centre on Sunday 11th November at 3.00 pm. We commend those involved in these preparations and wish them every success in Gowna. All support on the day will be much appreciated.
Arva Trotters: (walking/jogging/running) get together started on Saturday last and continues on Sunday next 28th October to allow peole to take part in the Gallant 15K Challenge on Saturday. Folk Group: The Arva Folk Group have practice each Tuesday evening at 8.30 pm and would strongly encourage any singers or musicians with an interest to join in and assure them of a warm welcome.

Free Money: Saturday Night’s Raffle in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex, Arva is called ‘Free Money Saturday’ and on Saturday night last there was no winner of the €1,500 on offer. Free entry to the draw. You must be there to win – the draw takes place anytime after 10.00pm.

The Gallant 15km Challenge: in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice takes place on this Saturday 27th October. Main sponsor is MacManus Pharmacy. People can either walk, run or cycle the 15km from Cavan to Cornafean or choose the smaller course of Balllinagh to Cavan. Sponsorship cards are available from St Christopher’s Hospice, any of the MacManus pharmacies, Ciaran Weir, Padraig Cosgrove, Willie Hughes, or Crossdoney Foodstore.

Blood Donors: The mobile unit of the Blood Transfusion Service will attend St Brigid’s Community Centre, Lough Gowna on Wednesday and Thursday of next week 31st October / 1st November. The Clinic’s will be open from 5.00 pm to 8.30 pm on both days and we urge everyone who can donate to go along and maybe save somebody’s life. Isn’t that a great thought? Help ensure that essential Blood supplies are always available by giving Blood regularly. It is important that we all remember that many patients in hospitals need our blood and this need never ceases.
