Handball Club: The World Handball Championships are taking place in the City West Hotel Conference Centre in Dublin from Thursday 11th October for two weeks. All our players did well. LCRL: LCRL are hosting an information morning in The Longford Arms Hotel, Longford from 9 am – 1 pm on October 31st. to explain what the Rural Development Programme can do for local communities and voluntary organisation and individuals. Spooky Saturday Markets: Colouring competition and face painting at Granard Country Market on Saturday 27th October in Lus na Gréine from 11am-1pm. Colouring sheets available from the Library, Post Office and Lus na Gréine.  Completed entries to be received at Lus na Gréine by 11.30am on morning of competition.  Complimentary tea/coffee for everyone. Crochet for Charity: Crochet classes are commencing on Wednesday 24th October from 18:30 to 20:00 at The Wool Barn, Coolarty The cost per class is €5.00 and classes will run for four weeks. COLLECTION: The annual senior citizens Christmas party will be held in Lus Na Gréine on Sunday December 9th next and the organizers will take up a church gate collection at all masses in Granard next weekend Oct.26th and 27th.The voluntary management committee and staff of Lus Na Gréine provide a great party for the senior citizens of Granard, Abbeylara and Mullinagtha areas every year and they will appreciate whatever help you can give in defraying the cost of this. If anyone wishes to make a donation to this they can do so by calling into the centre at any time.

Blood donors: Reminder to Blood Donors in the Loch Gowna Area. The Irish Blood Transfusion Service Mobile Unit will be located in St. Brigid’s Community Centre, Loch Gowna on: Wednesday 31st October, 2012, Thursday 1st November, 2012 -From 5.00pm – 8.30pm.
