Killoe

COMMUNITY GAMES: Killoe played host to the Co. Longford Community Games AGM on Friday the 21st of October in Cullyfad Community Centre. Three awards came Killoe’s way on the night. The first award was the McDonalds Cup for winning most medals at the 2011 National Finals. We took home a total of twenty National medals this year, due to the great success of our Mixed U14 Tag Rugby team and Boys U15 Indoor Soccer team. Kevin Prunty earned the Adult Volunteer Recognition Award, a very well deserved award for his great dedication and commitment to Community Games over many years. Kevin has been one of the key people involved in ensuring the success of Community Games here in Killoe, having served in many committee roles at Area and County level as well as training and managing athletics, Gaelic, Tag Rubgy and many more. Congratulations to Kevin and we hope he continues his involvement with Killoe Community Games for many years to come. In the Area Involvement Awards, Killoe came in at second place. This award is given to Areas who have been most active in the county over the past year and who offered the broadest range of activities. This is a great acknowledgement for the young people of Killoe and for all the coaches and trainers who pass on their talents to the next generation. Congratulations to the Killoe Community Games committee and thank you for all the hard work put in over the course of the past year.
