SUPER CHALLENGE: The day began at 4am when 22 cyclists set out from Longford to cycle to Croagh Patrick to raise money for the Lourdes Invalid Fund. There were a number of food stops along the way everyone was in good spirits and encouraged each other to keep going to the end. Many thanks to all, the cyclist for their participation and especially, to Carol Duffy who was blessed among men, well done everyone. It was very encouraging to see so many people waiting in the car park at Croagh Patrick when we arrived. To Kiernan milling for sponsoring the cycle and to Niall Fox for his invaluable help on the day and also to Mary Mulligan for her help. To all those who drove down and travelled on the bus thank you for your support. To everyone who made donations to the fund your generosity was much appreciated. After a long hard climb to the top of the reek cyclists and supporters all joined in a beautiful mass celebrated by Fr Simon. It was a great day for the community of Granard and something we hope to continue to do on a yearly basis and make it our parish pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick. A word of thanks to Johnny Creegan for the use of his premises for our fundraiser night and for the great evening on Monday when everyone was treated to a lovely BBQ.
