Lotto: No lotto winner for the 15,000 euro jackpot The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 4, 17. The numbers drawn for the second jackpot of €5100 were 6, 7, 26, 27. There was no winner of the jackpot. The six drawn winners are Farrell Reilly, Thomas Tighe, Nigel Creagh, Pauline Dunne, Nathan & Kyle Creagh. The next draw is 27th June 2011 and this draw will have two jackpots one for €15,000 and the next for €5250. The results of that draw will be printed next week.
Cake sale: The newly formed Parents Association of St Mary’s National School is holding a cake sale in the church grounds this Sunday June 26 after 11am mass. The event is to introduce the Association and to raise money for children’s events at the school. Tea and coffee will be served free but you need money to buy the treats.
Defibrillator: There was a great turn out at the fundraiser, to purchase a Defibrillator, which was held in Feericks Hotel on Sunday 5th June. Thanks to all for their support. Training in the use of the Defibrillator will follow shortly in Feerick’s Hotel, and anyone interested in same can contact Martina at 086-4073335.

Basketball camp: Registration for Basketball Camp, which takes place from 11th - 15th July in Streete Parish Park, will take place this Saturday,25th June, at Streete Parish Park from 5-6pm. Children from 7yrs - 18 yrs will be catered for at the Camp. The Camp Director is Paul Cummins, Irish International player, Paul will be assisted by our Club coaches. Our Club will also be taking bookings for the Camp at the Sports Zone in the Town Park, Mullingar, next Saturday 25th June, from 2 - 4pm. This will be convenient for any one wishing to book a place on the Camp who live in Mullingar and surrounding areas. Sympathy: Deepest sympathy to Matt Carrigy, on the death of his brother Noel last week. Noel’s removal was Thursday 16th in Multyfarnham and funeral held Friday 17th. To Noels’ family, his sister Nancy and brothers Matt and Tommy and extended family members we offer our sincere sympathy.

RECENT WEDDING: Belated congratulations to William Manning on his marriage to Tia Ward. William is from Crumlin, Rathowen and is the son of Una and Ian Manning. William and Tia have moved to the community, so a very warm welcome to Tia and we wish them both many happy years together .
St Fintan’s: Busy week with two U12 games, one at home on Monday against Maryland, Tang. Hard luck there lads!! Then again on Wednesday against Rochfortbridge with a deflated score hard luck against a very strong side. The U10 had a good game against Tyrrellspass and came back well in the second half with a goal in the difference. They will play St Lomans away in their next game. The U8 are having a blitz Tuesday evening at 7 in Cusack Park support is welcomed. And thanks to all who helped out with the cake and bun sale at bingo Monday evening.
Festival: It’s that time of the year again. After last year’s inaugural Festival in August 2010, the intention is to hold a similar event this year, of the week-end of 6th / 7th August 2011. The first meeting is to be held on 23rd June 2011 at 9pm in the Community Centre. All are invited to this meeting in order to bring new idea’s/suggestions and to assist in making it another successful week-end of Music and Craic for all the people of Rathowen and the surrounding area’s.
Tidy Towns: The last few months have seen a lot of dedicated hard work being undertaken by this committee. The village is looking well. The Tidy Towns Auditors have commenced their surveys for this year and will continue over the next few weeks, and we hope that Rathowen will figure prominently, as it deserves to do, as one of the tidiest in the County. If anybody has a spare few hours over the next 4 weeks, we would be delighted if you could help. Contact John Feerick (Chairman) and he will advise on any work that is required.
Fashion Show: Friday 10th June 2011 was the culmination of many months of hard work in organising the first ever Rathowen Fashion Show. Upwards of €1,600 was raised on the night. Well done to all the Ladies of the Parish whom, not only organised but also modelled on the night.
