Defibrillator Training: Some re-validation took place on Tuesday June 21st, the remaining sessions will take place on Tuesday June 28th, Tuesday July 12th and Tuesday July 19th. The duration of the training is approx. 30 minutes. It’s really important that we have a full attendance; all participants should have been notified by now. Training for beginners will be given on Saturday July 9th and takes approx. 3 hours. There may be another session for beginners in the near future, this hasn’t been confirmed yet. John retires: We send our best greetings to Mr John Moran, Aughavas who recently retired from Mohill Community School where he has taught our native language for many years. I know John a long time now and indeed a finer gentleman you could not meet. So John, Teresa and family we wish ye all the best for the future and I know John will still be very active helping out with all the activities in the parish of Aughavas.

Classes: Body attack Classes continue On Thursday nights at 9pm in Bornacoola Community centre. All are welcome.

Sympathy: We would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Hughie Hoare, Mullagh, Rooskey who died on Thursday last at The Maher Private Hospital, Dublin. Hughie was laid to rest in Kilmore Cemetery on Saturday last. May he Rest in Peace.

Childcare: Naionra Pògini Grèine Dromod is an Irish Speaking preschool service. All activities Are carried out through the medium of Irish so the children can hear and learn the language, music etc all in a very relaxed setting. For further information contact Yvonne on 086 0718105.

Fun Day: PIG ON THE STICK. All roads lead to Kilglass GAA. pitch on Sunday next 26 for THE PIG ON THE STICK. A great family day guaranteed. Proceedings begin at 4.00pm with Gay Cassidy set dancers plus John Wynne and local musicians. Food will be served between 6 and 7pm. this will be followed by special guests Sean Nos ar an tSionann from 7 to 730. Then we have a seisiun with local musicians. The evening will conclude with Marty and Hammer 9-11. Admission €5 and fully licensed bar. There will also be children’s activities with games face painting etc.

Angling: The Rynn- Shannon -district angling club will be hosting the annual Chernobyl and family fun day at Lough inn amenity area on Sunday July 10th at 12pm. admittance is free. all are welcome. Amongst the attractions will be barbecue, pig-on-a-spit, bouncy castle, boat trips, Irish country dancing, limo trips. Music by Tom Moran. Come and join in the fun day and meet the children of Chernobyl and give a real Irish welcome.

Birthday greetings: We send our greetings to some people who celebrated their birthday recently first to Kathleen O’Hara, Cloonturk who celebrated her 81st birthday on June 14th last also to Shay Reynolds who also had his birthday on the same day, to our own Lisa who turned 22 on Sunday last and shares it with fellow Cloonturk man now living down under Derek (Digger) Duignan. We wish you all many more years of health and happiness.

GAA DRAW: Bornacoola will hold their club draw for June on Saturday night next 25th June in The Copper still Dromod, usual prizes music on the night by Brian Williams. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Scrap: Bornacoola are collecting scrap metal, old cars, farm machines, tractors, steel, washing machines, dishwashers, copper, brass, stainless steel, scrap electric cables, lead, batteries, engines, electric motors etc. First day of collection was last Saturday and proved to be very successful so a member of the club will call to all the houses in the parish in the coming weeks and will arrange for any unwanted metal goods to be collected.

Draw: Bornacoola are holding a draw in conjunction with the All Ireland football final. Envelopes will be on sale with four random times in them, the purchaser will put their name on the envelope and the times inside are his or hers time of which the first goal might be scored in the All Ireland final in the event of no goals being scored the “no goal” ticket will win. The lucky winner will pocket v500. Envelopes are on sale from any club member at a cost of €5.
