Ah! Ah! Ah! A big birthday wish to James Michael Flynn over there is Soran who will be getting very excited today as he prepares for a big bash tomorrow, joined by Daddy Seamus and Mummy Brenda with grandparents, extended families in celebrating one of many happy occasions with a lovely sticky cake. Happy 1st birthday James Michael.


Killoe GAA annual 5K/10 run event will be held on Sunday, 22 March 2015. Registration from 10am – 11am with race commencing at 12pm. Starting from Emmet Og GAA grounds Clonee, Killoe. Cost 15 euro per runner, 10 euro per walker, 5 euro for U-16 years.

A meeting was held in the presbytery Ennybegs, Killoe on Tuesday, 24th February 2015 . Any pioneer members in the parish who are 25 or 50 years are invited to apply for their silver or gold pins. The Fr Cullen medal is also awarded to life time 50 years or over pioneers. Pioneer quiz annual event is on Thursday, 12 March 2015 in the Temperance Hall, Longford. It is hoped to have two teams participating. Juvenile group U-13 years on 1st January last. Sincere condolence and prayers were expressed on the sudden sad bereavement of Agnes Browne, sister of our treasurer, John Browne and the Browne families. May she rest in peace.

A.S.I.S.T. Longford

Are you Assist trained and if you are would you like to become part of a community volunteer group who want to promote positive mental health and suicide prevention. A meeting will be held on Tuesday 24 March 2015 at 7.30pm in the EDI Centre Longford and we would request everyone to assist personnel by attending this important meeting as this may be the start of a new group in the Longford area that will contribute enormous benefit to our communities. Sincere sympathy is extended to the Murphy families, Soran, Ballinalee. Reenie Maguire (nee Murphy) and familes, Soran on the sad bereavement of their father, Peter Murphy who was laid to rest last week. Requiem mass was celebrated in the Holy Trinity Church, Ballinalee with burial in St Emer’s Cemetery, Ballinalee. The parish express condolence to his sons Raymond, Albert, PJ, Michael, daughters Eilish, Tina, sister Reenie, sons/daughters in law, brothers/sisters in law, grandchildren, extended families, friends, neighbours. May he rest in peace. Also the parish extend sincere condolence to Pauline Diffley (nee Quinn) and families Hill Road, Drumlish, Eamon Quinn and families Treanlawn, Killoe, Diffley families Rooskey Co Longford on the sad bereavement of Pauline’s husband Michael (late of Rooskey) who was laid to rest last week. The parish express condolence to his wife Pauline, sons Michael , Sean, daughters Francine, Sharon, brothers PJ, Noel, Gerard, Seamus, Kevin, sons/daughter-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, extended families, neighbours, friends. Saturday 28 March note Vigil mass will be celebrated at earlier time of 7.30pm to avoid traffic congestion with drama group play in Ennybegs Community Centre.

Community Games

Congratulations to the very talented children of Killoe Community Games who performed so well in the Backstage Theatre last Saturday. Here are the excellent results: U14 Solo Recitation, 1st place Catherine Lynch; U14 Solo Singing, 2nd place Niamh O’Brien. U16 Solo Singing 2nd place Katie O’Driscoll and 3rd place Olivia Whelan. U14 Group Singing were placed 2nd 
U16 Group Singing were placed 1st; U14 Group Modern Dance were placed 2nd; U14 Drama were place 2nd; U16 Drama were placed 1st; U14 Group Music were placed 3rd. A sincere thank you goes to Grainne Fox, Martha Gray, Eimear Nic Caba, Laura Harte, Sinead McCormack and Paul McCarthy for all their amazing work with these children and teenagers. Well done to our quiz teams for taking part in their event last Friday and thank you to Rosemary Kiernan and Carol Chapman for their work. The committee wish to express our sincere sympathies to our dedicated trustee Raymond Murphy, his wife Patricia and the extended Murphy family on the death of Raymond’s father Peter. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Cilleo Yew Tree Players

Rehearsals for the Cilleo Yew Tree Players production of John B Keane’s classic play “Many Young Men of Twenty” are in the final stages. This year we have a large cast and backroom team, including some of our home grown stalwarts together with experienced actors from outside the parish. We also have a number of new local talent shinning through! The proficient director is Pat Doherty with Grainne Fox taking responsibility for all musical related elements. The production is scheduled for March 28th, 29th and 30th in Ennybegs Community Centre at 8:30pm. Tickets go on sale soon. A fantastic nights entertainment is guaranteed.
