Fundraiser for Oncology Unit
The Jimmy McManus Memorial Pool Tournament will be held in MJ’s Bar, first round matches played on Friday 13 March, Saturday 14 March and Sunday 15 March. Semi-final and final matches will be held on St Patrick’s Day at 6pm. All proceeds to the Oncology Unit Cavan General Hospital.
Children if you like to enter the draw to win an Easter Egg, all you have to do is call into Carrigallen Library, take out book(s) and your name will be entered into the draw, continues until Saturday 28 March and draw will take place on Monday 30 March. Prizes in 0-8; 8-11; and 11-14 age categories. Also, I.C.A. Taispeántas Sean Fhocal Bantreacht na Tuaithe Exhibition will be on display until Saturday, 14 March. Killeshandra Community Drama Group in their 10th year since formation bring a new play by Joe McManus entitled “Lies” directed by Colette Maguire to The Corn Mill Theatre on Thursday 12 (preview) and Friday/Saturday 13 and 14 March at 8:30pm. This play is the first for McManus. Set in a quiet rural village called “Killara” following the Celtic tiger. A local property is purchased by people from Dublin, unknown to the residence the occupiers turn this village up-side down. The play deals with strong issues, relationships, and challenge people in respected positions in the community to face reality involving those near and dear to them. The director is very excited about this play and felt it was right for the group and her as the director to take to stage. This play is not recommended for under 14 year olds to attend unaccompanied. Social dancing will be held next Saturday night, 14 March, in the Kilbrackan Arms Hotel from 10:00pm to 12:30am. Music supplied by Pauric Sweeney. All are welcome!
G.F.C. Lotto The draw was held on Saturday, 7 March 2015, and the numbers drawn on the night were 6, 13, 15, and 29. There was no Jackpot winner and the four winners of €50 each were Fergal Meehan (15 Club), Bridie Doyle, Pauline Harte, and Orla Heslin Prior. Next week’s draw will be held in MJ’s bar on 14 March 2015 when the Jackpot will be €4,400. Those in charge of the draw will be the St Joseph’s Team.
Club meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 8:30pm in Teach Duchais, Drumeela, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim and everyone is welcome. Next meeting is on Wednesday next, 11 March. Guest speaker is Larry Lynch, renowned Landscape Gardener from Ballyconnell, Co Cavan. Larry will talk on Rose Pruning and Propagation, and he will answer audience questions and discuss any gardening problems. Now is the time to prepare your garden for spring and summer, and Larry’s timely advice will help you to get started. There will be a Special Offer on sale of heathers to attendees on the night. Thoughts for the Lenten Journey
Who am I before the Suffering Jesus? This year’s series of Lenten Reflections in the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan, continue on Wednesday 18 March next at 7:30pm with Stations of the Cross, a reflection on ‘Caiaphas the High Priest’ given by Deacon Damian Kivlehan, and Benediction. Lenten evening of Prayer & Reflection with Stations of the Cross and Benediction led by Fr. Enda Murphy, Diocesan Director of Pastoral Services, in St. Mary’s Church, Glenfarne, on Monday, 23 March 2015 at 8:00pm.
This Leonard Coen piece ‘Halleluiah’ will be performed by the equally fabulous soprano Pearl Kielty at the Mohill based ‘Sweet Spirit Gospel & Country Choir’s concert under the direction of Mohill native Tish Dunleavy. Tish on electric piano will be joined by Padraig Donohoe of ‘Evening Star’ fame on drums and Sean Mahon (Rodeo Man) on guitar & banjo. Some new pieces along with the old favourites will be performed on the night. Beneficiaries are: ‘Arus Carolan Patient Comfort Fund’, St. Manachan’s Outreach Special Class and ‘Goal’ c/o Noel Mahon Bornacoola. The show will take place in the Hunt Hall, Castle Street, Mohill (opposite Library) on Sunday evening 22 March 2015 at 8:00pm. Admission is €10 and includes a hot toddy!
