The local walking group continues with their weekly walk from the complex in Carrickedmond at 8:30pm on Monday and Thursday nights up to Thursday up to the 2nd April 2015. These walks are open to male and female walkers and remember to bring your High Vis coats.
Abbeyshrule Canoe Club
Will hold their AGM in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Monday night next the 16th March at 8pm. The AGM is a great opportunity for non-members to find out about the club activities and the benefits of club membership. Membership is open to adults and children from 7 years upwards and will be taken up on the night. Interested people are invited to come along. The Carrickedmond folk group will also sing at mass in Carrickedmond church on St Patrick’s Day at 10am. Rehearsals continue on usual night new members always welcome.

The local GAA season kicked off last weekend. Carrickedmond second team was in action in the reserve league away to Mullinalaghta. After a good game the home team was winners by three points.
Tashinny National School
Will host an Open Day for prospective parents and children on Wednesday 18th March next from 4pm to 6pm. This will be an opportunity for families who may be interested in enrolling their children in Tashinny School to visit the school, meet the teachers and view the facilities. St Patrick’s Day
Tuesday next the 17th March is St Patrick’s Day. All the usual St Patrick’s Day activities will take place in towns around the county. In nearby Ballymahon the St Patrick’s Day parade is back and promised to be full of surprises this year. We welcome home to the parish all visiting for St Patrick’s Day. Hopefully everyone has an enjoyable and safe festive day.
