The Leitrim branch of Diabetes Ireland will hold a public information meeting tonight Wednesday, October 22nd in the Ramada Lough Allen Hotel and Spa Drumshanbo starting at 7.45 pm. The guest speaker on the night will be Ms Ruth Morrow, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Carrigallen Health centre and the topic being; Diabetes-the importance of healthy living through diet and exercise. There will be a range of topics covered on the night and they will include diet, driving regulations and some gentle but effective seated exercises etc. and there will be a opportunity to ask questions throughout the talk. “The Country Boy” a play by John Murphy and performed by Athlone Little Theatre takes place in St Mary’s Hall, Carrick on Shannon on Friday, October 31st at 8pm. The proceeds of this performance are to raise much needed funds for the Carrick on Shannon Lourdes Assisted Pilgrim Fund. Each year it arranges to take 60 Assisted Pilgrims to Lourdes for 5 Days as part of the Diocesan Pilgrimage. These Assisted Pilgrims stay at the hospital and are looked after by voluntary helpers and a number of youth workers selected from all of the schools in the diocese. People from every parish travel and they are especially asking the families of people who have travelled in the past to support this night. Tickets are available on the door for €10. Mohill’s horse fair
Mohill’s annual horse fair will take place on Sunday next, October 26th, as always there will be lots of horses, donkeys, goats, poultry and lots more for sale on the day. There will also be the usual array of trade stands food stands etc. always a great day.
