Defibrillator Training

Refresher classes for all wishing to brush up on their skills of CPR and how to use a defibrillator will take place in St Sinneach’s Hall, Carrickedmond on this Thursday night, the 23rd October commencing at 7:30pm. Badminton

Badminton continues in St Sinneachs Hall, Carrickedmond on Wednesday nights. Registration for adults is still been accepted and membership will be €50 for the year. New members welcome.

House Stations

House station for the Mornine/Park-Place/Clonfide ares will take place at the home of Padraig and Geraldine Kenny on Friday, 24th October at 8pm.

New Clinic

A reminder that local woman, Caroline Ferry, Doory who recently qualified as a Nutritional Therapist has opened a healthy eating/weight loss clinic above O’Hanlon’s pharmacy, Ballymahon. Folk Group

The Carrickedmond folk group will perform at 10am mass in Carrickedmond on Sunday next, the 26th October.

Used Clothes Collection

A used clothes collection will take place from outside Colehill NS School on Friday next, 24th October. Please leave bags of used clothes, shoes etc at the school gate before 9.30 am.

Longford Warmer Homes

Provides free attic insulation, cavity wall insulation and energy advice to elderly and disadvantaged home owners throughout the county that meet certain criteria. Longford Warmer Homes also carries out work for the elderly as part of the Care & Repair Scheme. This group is trying to make people throughout Co. Longford aware that this free service is available. Adoration Vigil

Cairde Comhrá

Are you interested in reviving your Irish speaking? Cairde Comhrá is a group of adults who meet every Wednesday night, 8pm – 10pm, in the Co-op building in Kenagh (The old National School). In an informal setting, we try to improve whatever level of Irish we have. New members are welcome to join us - so if you have very little, a little or a lot and would like the opportunity to improve your “cúpla focail” please come along.

Wedding Bells

Congratulations to Andrew Coffey, son of Albert and Caroline Coffey, Clonard and Linda McGee, Mullingar who were married on Friday last. The lovely wedding ceremony took place in Gainstown church, Mullingar and afterwards the couple along with the guests who attended made their way to the Bloomfield Hotel, Mullingar where a great evening and night was had by all. We all join and wish Andrew and Linda many happy years of married life together.

Parish Newsletter

Any individual or group who wish to have material included in the annual parish newsletter which will be published at Christmas time are reminded to prepare any articles or material and to hand it in to Fr Healy in the coming weeks.

Girls Football

Well done to the Colehill NS girls football team who have qualified for the Co Longford schools division final which will be played after the Halloween break. The team play Colmcille in the final and we wish all concerned good luck.

The Country Boy

Ardagh and Clonmacnoise assisted pilgrims fund in association with Athlone Little Theatre present the Country Boy by John Murphy in the Aurora Hall, Legan on this Friday night, the 24th October. Doors open at 8pm and curtain up is at 8:30pm. For booking and further information contact 086-8869477.

Hard Luck

To the Carrickedmond senior team who were beaten by Carlow Intermediate champions, Ballinabranny in the first round of the Leinster Intermediate championship in Pearse Park, Longford on Sunday last. After a very successful year this was the first time the Carrick team suffered defeat during 2014 and great credit must go to all involved who for the record recorded a total of 16 wins and one draw during 2014 in competitive games. Congratulations to all involved.
