We extend sincere sympathy to Geraldine Gilligan on the death of her mother, Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Quinn, Culvin. Mrs Quinn who had reached an advanced age is survived by her daughters, Geraldine, May and Goretti as well as her sons in law, grandchildren and her extended family to whom we offer our condolences. Her funeral followed Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Boherquill and she was laid to rest in the small graveyard beside the church. May she rest in peace.

Boherquill Ramblers

The unseasonably warm and sunny weather on Sunday, October 12th tempted a large group of Ramblers and guests outdoors for a walk along the Longford to Killashee Branch of the Royal Canal. Rambler Ann Airlie led the way out of Longford along the towpath and then the return journey on the opposite bank so thank you to Ann for organising a very enjoyable outing. On Sunday, October 26th the Ramblers will visit Mullaghmeen Forest near Castlepollard. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and pause outside The Town and Country pub on the Square in Castlepollard before moving on to meet at Mullaghmeen at 2pm. The two-hour walk will be on forest tracks and paths so walking boots are advised. There are several vacant Sundays on the Calendar over the next few weeks so any suggestions for walks would be very welcome.
