The sympathy of the community is extended to Marion Keogh, Culleenmore on the death of her mother, Mary Smyth, Aughakilmore, Ballyheelan which occurred peacefully at her home in the loving care of her family. In her 96th year, the late Mary enjoyed excellent health during her long life. Of a religious and friendly disposition she was regular visitor to Lourdes over the years. She also made trips to the U.S.A over the years. Her passing will leave a void in family circles. She is also survived be her sons Paddy, Dan, Jimmie and Gerry, daughters Breda, Kathleen and Veroncia, sisters Sr. Stephen and Kathleen, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews and nieces to whom our condolences are extended. May she rest in peace.
Abbeylara Field Day will take place on this Sunday 8th June. Always an entertaining and fun filled day for all the family there will be a vintage display of cars, tractors and motor bikes commencing at12.00 midday. Modified Pro Stock and Super Farm Tractors will be appearing on the the day. Farm tractor owners are welcome to enter a competition for some valuable prizes. Please note that weigh in is at 9.30am. Ladies are invited to participate for being crowned Best Dressed Lady. There will be numerous side shows such as threshing demonstration, ladies and gents tug ‘o’ war wellie throwing. As usual children will be catered for with bouncing castles, trap & pony rides, bumping cars, face painting, bungee trampoline etc. Bargains can be picked up at a car boot sale. For automobile lovers midget car racing will take place in association with Motorsport Ireland. For permit holders disabled parking facilities are available close to entrance. Admission is only €10. Children are free. Proceeds are in aid of parish funds. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Change of time
Weather permitting, the Vigil Mass will be celebrated in the local cemetery on Saturday, 7th June at 4p.m due to Longford Wexford game. Please inform family and friends away from home about change of time. All are requested to tidy their plots and to remove all rubbish.
Forms have been given out to the local school for the summer camp which will take place at St. Columba’s G.A.A grounds. The annual camp will will run this year from Monday11th August to Friday 15th August for 4 – 7 age group. 8-12 years old will be catered for from Monday18th August to Friday 22nd August. St. Columba’s G.F.C held their weekly lotto draw on Wednesday, 28th May. The winning numbers were 4, 5, 22, 30 with the jackpot of €5,300 remaining intact. As part of their fundraising activities the local ladies football club are holding a weekly draw based on the bonus ball in the main draw of the national lottery.
