On Saturday las, thirteen boys and eleven girls from St Sinneach’s school Colehill made their first Holy Communion in Carrickedmond church. The lovely ceremony was performed by parish priest Fr Peter Tiernan. Each boy and girl was turned out lovely for this special ceremony. A large crowd attended the ceremony. Great credit must go to each boy and girl along with their parents their class teacher Miss Miriam Walsh and Fr Tiernan for the great preparation put into been ready for this special day in their lives. Cumann na Mbunscol football success
Congratulations to the Colehill NS mixed football team who were winners of the County Longford national schools Division 1B final which was played in Pearse Park Longford last week. The team turned in a brilliant display of football and in the end were deserving winners over a very gallant Edgeworthstown team. Following the game the cup was presented to the winning joint captain’s Eoghan McCormack and Patrick Murray and a delighted team and supporters made their way back to the Rustic-Inn, Abbeyshrule where a great evening of celebrations was enjoyed by all. Well done to everyone who took part in our recent training sessions which took place over the past two weeks in the canal harbour in Abbeyshrule. In all 74 children and parents took part and completed their Level 1 training. Thanks to Richard and the lads in Outdoor Discovery, Ballymahon who provided the training and did a great job as usual. We will be running level 2 training later in July numbers permitting. We may also have some further level 1 training later in the summer depending on demand. The 2nd annual Abbeyshrule 5 & 10km run and walk takes place on Sunday, 8th June @11am. Registration is open from 10am in the Rustic Inn. This event is one of the main fundraisers for the club and was a great success in 2013. Your support is appreciated. Membership is now due for renewal for all members. New members are always welcome and should contact one of the committee. The weekly paddle sessions are ongoing at 5pm, Saturday evening in Abbeyshrule Canal harbour. Senior Citizens Gathering
A senior citizens gathering will take place in St Sinneach’s Hall, Carrickedmond on Wednesday, the 11th June at 3pm. All senior citizens from the area are invited to attend.
Good luck is extended to all boys and girls from the parish that commence their Junior and Leaving cert exams today. Our prayers and good wishes are with each one. Hopefully, all will achieve the marks and results they deserve.

To the Carrick/Sarsfields juvenile team who were winners of the Division 2 football league recently. The team beat St Patrick Og Ardagh in the final with the final score reading 3-16 to 3-7. Well done to all concerned.
21st Birthday congratulations
Congratulations to Niamh Mulvey, daughter of Martin and Rose Mulvey, Ballintubber, who celebrated her 21st birthday recently. Hopefully, Niamh enjoyed the celebrations.
Congratulations to Connie and Stephen Teague, Ratharney on the recent birth of a bouncing baby girl. Hopefully, Connie and the new arrival are doing well.
Student of the Year
Congratulations to Patrick Farrell, son of Kevin and Mary Farrell, Doory, who was announced student of the year in Ballymahon Mercy Secondary School recently. Well done Patrick.
The Kelloggs GAA Cul Camp takes place this year from the 14th to the 18th July in the GAA pitch Carrickedmond. This camp is a great way for boys and girls aged 6-13 to play the game and to learn GAA skills in a fun child friendly environment.
