Longford Toastmasters are holding a table quiz in Longford Rugby Club on this Thursday, 27th March at 9p.m (team registration at 8.30pm). Table of four persons cost €40. Raffle and spot prizes on the night. All are welcome.

Summer Time

Winter time will cease on this Sunday, 30th March at 1a.m when all time pieces should be put forward one hour.

Cake Sale

Mullinalaghta Ladies Footballers will hold a cake sale in the local community centre following Mass Easter weekend. Your support would be appreciated.

First Aid Course

Anyone interested in taking part in first aid course run in conjunction with Northern Gaels, Abbeylara G.F.C and Granard G.F.C are requested to forward their names and phone numbers to Patrick Matthews as soon as possible. Patrick can be contacted on 087 2925540.


Kiltegan Fathers will visit the parish on Saturday, 29th March and Sunday, 30th March. They will celebrate Mass in both churches and also make an appeal for the Missions. Support would be appreciated.

St. Vincent de Paul Shop

‘’New 2 U’’ shop at Market St. Granard is open every Friday from 10.00am to 5.00pm and on Saturdays from 11.00am – 5.00pm. It will also open on the first Tuesday of each month from 10.00am – 5.00pm. Please note change of business hours for winter months.

Lotto Draw

St. Columba’s G.F.C held their weekly lotto draw in Keogh’s on Wednesday 19th March. The winning numbers were 14, 17, 22, 24 with jackpot of €4800 remaining intact. Consolation prizes of €20 were won by the following. Connie Reilly, Aughnagarron. Olivia Denning, Derrycasson. John Denning, Derrycasson. Lizzie Donohoe, Derrycasson and HP Donohoe, Carnagh. Please drop tickets into Cloonagh P.O before 5.30pm on Monday.

Ladies Footballers

As part of their fundraising activities the local ladies football club are holding a weekly draw based on the bonus ball in the main draw of the national lottery. Sheets are on sale in local shops or are available from any club member. Match the bonus ball in Saturday’s night main draw and you will earn yourself €20. Lines are just €2. Six monthly tickets are available for €50 by contacting Marie Matthews. Your support would be very much appreciated each week. The winning number on Saturday 15th March was 20. There was no winner. On Saturday 22nd last Alma Brady, Cloonagh earned herself €20 by choosing number 4.

Race Day

The Flynn & Lynch, Life & Pensions Longford GAA 12th Annual Raceday will take place at Punchestown course on Wednesday 30th April. Always an entertaining and great social occasion all GAA supporters are encouraged to support the event. Package of €1000 (table of 10) or €100 per Ticket . Admission includes Race Card, Celebrity Tipster, Four Course Meal, Bar Facilities, Hot Afternoon Refreshments and Free betting voucher for €10.
