Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. Adult’s €25. Juveniles €10. League: Arva had 2 games against Ballymachugh on Sunday last which were played in Parc na Gael, Dromard. The Brady’s Arva Division 2 game was played first and after a hard hour’s football Arva emerged victorious on a score line Arva 1-13 Ballymachugh 1-9. Jonathan Mc Cabe opened the scoring with an Arva point in the 2nd minute but Ballymachugh scored 3 in a row in the following minutes. Four points in a row from Conal Sheridan (7 mins) Kevin Bouchier (frees – 9th/11th mins) and McCabe again (10 mins). Two frees for the visitors levelled matters before a Penalty goal put them ahead. Arva were in determined mood and raced up the field with a good passing movement before Brian Ellis sent a lovely pass to Conal Sheridan who found the inrushing Thomas Brady who made no mistake from close range to level matters again. A Bouchier free in the 31st minute gave Arva the lead at the break. Brian Ellis opened the second half scoring (3 mins) following a good turnover by Brian Fitzpatrick but the sides were level again following 2 pointed frees from Ballymachugh. Bouchier pointed (13 mins) but the visitors replied to level the scores for the 5th time in the game. Ellis put Arva ahead (20 mins) and they never lost the lead to the finish. Peter Morris added another (22 mins), the visitors replied with their last score as Conal Sheridan (26 min), James Morris (27 mins) and Ryan Magarahan (28 mins) all pointed to ensure an Arva victory. In the Cully’s Craft Bakery Reserve Division 2 game Arva had a great win on a score 5-12 to 3-9 with a number of younger players making their mark alongside some of the more experienced heads. Scorers Raymond Daly (3-3), Ryan Magarahan (1-3), Paul Bouchier (1-0), Peter Conneely (0-2), Danny Conneely (0-2), Raymond Brady (0-1). Ciaran Cooney (0-1). This was a hugely entertaining game with lots of free flowing football from both sides. On this Sunday 30th March Arva are away to Killinkere in the Brady’s Arva Breffni League at 2 o’clock and we appeal to supporters to travel and cheer on the players. Cavan Senior Football team play fellow table toppers Roscommon in Kingspan Breffni Park on this Saturday night at 7 o’clock and a big attendance is anticipated. Supporters should aim to be there in good time as there could be hold-ups with a big crowd coming in late. Tickets must be bought before entering the Turnstiles as cash will not be accepted at the Turnstiles. Both teams are promoted and will meet in the League Final on Saturday 26th April in Croke Park but neither will want to loose this game.
U 21 Championship
The Cavan U 21 team will meet Monaghan on Wednesday next, 2nd April in the Semi-Final of the Ulster Championship. The Arva Club are extremly proud to have 3 members on the panel and we extend continued good wishes to Ciaran Brady, Kevin Bouchier, Jonathan McCabe and all involved - it should be another tough test. All support needed to cheer on the players. Throw-in is at 8 o’clock – be there.
Continues in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva each Sunday night with a good attendance. With over €3,100 on offer each night it is one of the best sessions around. Eyes down at 8.30 pm.

The Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June. Bookings for the Pilgrim Section are with Mc Ginnity Travel, Cavan and for the Assisted Pilgrim Section with Rev Kevin Fay, Lavey, Co Cavan. Early booking is essential as places are limited. Tickets are on sale to support the Assisted Pilgrim Section and all support will be much appreciated.
For the Parish of Killeshandra will take place in St Brigid’s Church, Killeshandra on this Saturday 29th March at 12 noon. The Bishop of Kilmore Most Rev Leo O’Reilly will Confirm the children of the Parish which includes those from St Mary’s National School, Arva - Caleb Boughtwood, Richard Cully, Shane Dobson, Seamus Donegan, Conor Ellis, Emily Finnegan, Maria Finnegan, Lauren Gilsenan-Quinn, Jamie Gray, Luke Hurson, Holly Lynch, Aisling MacManus, Oisin McDonnell, Claire O’Connor, Clare Scott, Aaron Shanaghy, Emma Walch, and Ellie-May Stewart.

Arva Foróige Club is hosting a Variety night on Sunday, 13th April in the Breffni Arms Hotel at 7.30pm. All proceeds go to Arva Swimming Pool Development and Arva Foróige Club. Admission is just €5-00.

Arva St Patricks Day Parade drew large crowds to the town. It was a great celebration of our culture and heritage with great local participation. Colmcille vintage float won the plaque for the best float. The best dressed window went to Arva Comhaltas. The adjudicator from the reviewing stand was Ms Anne Cully Ryan. On the reviewing stand were, Fr D Hannon CC, Mrs Frances Goode, Mr George Hewitt, representing the community Mr Barney Cully and Mr Phil Brady Snr, Councillors: Luie McEntire, Winston Bennett and John Duffy, Apologies were received from Maura Maguire Lynch. The parade committee thank all the local groups who contributed so much to make the parade a wonderful day for all.
Country Tea Party
A country tea party will take place in The Breffni Arms on Friday night, 9th of May from 8.30pm -11.30pm. Music by Mike Beasley and A HOLA. All proceeds directly to Arva Community Development Association. Anyone wishing to host a table please keep this date for your diary.
Arva Social Club will this year travel to Wexford for their annual Holiday break leaving on Monday 23rd June and returning on Friday 27th June. On the way to Wexford they will stop off for the customary Tea and Scones / sandwiches, they will have 4 nights Bed and Breakfast with Evening Dinner and stop off for Dinner on the return journey. The cost of all this is just €295-00 per person for members and €325 for non members. It is important to contact any member of the committee as soon as possible to reserve a seat as numbers are limited.

Residents are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour or strange cars in the locality following a number of House Break-in’s recently. It is important to take the Registration number / colour of strange cars – and the make if possible and contact the Gardaí. While it is believed that nothing of significance was taken it is just as much about your home being violated by strangers. Be aware at all times.
Special Olympics Ireland urgently requires volunteers to help with its national Collection Day this April. The sport charity’s annual Collection Day takes place throughout Ireland on Friday 11th April. All funds raised go directly towards delivering a sports programme for people with an intellectual disability in Ireland.
