Well done to  all those young artists who took gold and silver medals at the recent Talent contest held in the Backstage Theatre. Michael Doyle took gold in the solo music section, his sister Sarah Doyle took gold in the Recitation section, Emily O’Leary took silver in the solo singing while our instrumental group took gold also, the group consisted of Michael Doyle, Ciaran Mulligan, Laura Pakenham, Lorna Beer, Mary Sheridan and Grace Ross. Hard luck to our singing group who failed to come in despite singing well. Abbey and Jennie Purdy, Laura Campbell, Grace Ross, Shannon Brown, Emily O’Leary.



Snow White and the Five Dwarfs pantomime will take place in The Park House Hotel on Friday, 28th March at 8pm, Saturday 29th at 8pm and Sunday, 30th March at the earlier time of 6pm. Tickets on sale at The Park House, John Farrell’s, Costcutters, Quinns Supply Stores, Philip Quinns Corner and Edgeworthstown Development office. Tickets cost €10, children €6 with concessions and family rates.



CCE Church gate collection on the weekend of 29th and 30th March outside all masses. Proceeds towards the Running of the Co. Longford Fleadh to be held in Edgeworthstown under the local Joe Callaghan Branch.


County Fleadh

Entries for the Co. Fleadh will be taken on Saturday, 5th April from 1pm until 3pm in The Pavillion on the Green. This will be the one and only day for entries.

Table Quiz

Longford Toastmasters are holding a Table Quiz in Longford Rugby Club on Thursday, the 27th of March at 9pm (team registration at 8.30pm). Table of four persons cost 40 euro.  Raffle and spot prizes on the night. All welcome.


Work4You’ set up by Acquired Brain Injury Ireland provides a free vocational assessment service for individuals who have an acquired brain injury and would like assistance and guidance in returning to work, training or education. It is free to anyone with an acquired brain injury and in receipt of a payment from the Dept. of Social Protection. If you are interested in the service or would like more information, Work4You are holding a Pop-Up Information Stand in Longford Shopping Centre on Wednesday 2nd April 2014 between 9am – 11am. Development Association

Edgeworthstown District Development is holding an Easter Draw. First prize Luxurious Hamper, 2nd prize Goodies Hamper, 3rd prize Wine and chocolates and 4th prize, selection of Easter Eggs. All proceeds will go to Edgeworthstown District Development. Cards on sale in the Post Office and local businesses in the town.

Community House

Edgeworthstown Strategic Planning Group are opening a new Community House at number 43 Clover Well, Edgeworthstown. The opening will take place on Saturday 29th at 12 Noon. All are welcome.

Mostrim GAA

There was no jackpot winner in the last Lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 4, 8, 25 and 30. Twenty-five euro winners were Margaret Devine, Nora McLoughlin, Geraldine Gaffney and Sean Cahill.
