St. Patrick’s Day
There were large congregations at the morning Masses in both Churches on Monday 17th last for the national holiday. Ideal weather gave all a chance to be out and about for the feast of St. Patrick and the shamrock and the usual decorations were very much in evidence. The local parades were the main attraction while some made their way to Croke Park for the Club finals.
As expected, the re-routing of the N55 through the parish may have serious consequences for many families and their livelihood who are affected by the proposed re-alignment. Following consultations with Co. Council representatives recently a Preliminary Design for the Preferred Route has now been selected. Taking into consideration this densely populated area and the lie of the River Erne as well as the village of Killydoon and its amenities, it looks like an entirely new landscape will emerge which will include three new bridges over the winding river in the space of 1 mile.
