Annual New Year’s draw
Our big New Year draw took place in Prior’s Bar on Saturday night last. This was a wonderful night, thanks to everyone for attending and supporting the draw and making it another great success. The following were the big winners on the night; Sonny Murphy, Drumderg who won €1500; Elizabeth Honeyman, Fenagh who also won €1500 and Padraig Griffin, Aghadark who won €1000. Get Fit Sessions
The following Get Fit sessions are starting in Ballinamore SOH GAA Gym this week. A Men’s session on Wed 8th of January at 8.30pm. An Active age session on Thurs at 10am. Ladies classes on a Wed at 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Tues and Thurs at 11am for beginners. For more information contact Michelle on 0879390980.
Club membership is now open for the coming year with adult membership set at €35, junior membership at €20 and family membership at €80.
All players are reminded that the first lotto of 2014 will be held in the Heritage bar on the 13th of January please remember all entries need to be in by 23:15 and the draw will take place at 23:30.
Charity match Thanks to everyone for attending and taking part in the annual Culchies vs Townies match which took place last Saturday in the Park. All monies raised are in aid of Ronan Sharpley’s excellent work in El Salvador. Special mention to Paul McLoughlin for organising a great event and all the players for taking part.
Manager meets players Our new team manager, Colin Hannify met our panel of players for the first time on Friday last. We welcome Colin and wish him and the players the best of luck in 2014. Scór na nÓg Scór na nÓg semi finals took place last weekend in Mohil with Sean O’Heslin’s represented in the Solo section by Isobel McAllister and Aoife D’Arcy who performed brilliantly on the night but unfortunately missed out on reaching the county final. We were also represented in the question time competition by Aaron McBrien, Ryan Donohoe, Thomas Darcy and James Og Mcguire. Despite a strong performance we again missed out on a spot in the finals. Special thanks to all the young performers that took part and I am sure we will be seeing them back next time.
Irish Comhrá classes
If you are interested in improving your Irish, conversation classes are taking part each Tuesday at 8.30pm in the library. There will be separate groups for those who know very little Irish, those who have a fair amount and those who are fluent. Leaving Cert or transition year students will also find it useful. Admission is free.

Church of Ireland Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.
A member of the Redemptorist team who will present the Parish Mission next September, wishes to meet with the Parish Pastoral Council to discuss arrangements and the format for the mission. A meeting for this purpose will take place in the Parochial House, Ballinamore on Monday Jan 13th at 7:30pm. All available members are asked to attend.
Day Centre reopens The Day Centre will re-open in Templeport Resource Centre on next Wed January 15th. Usual transport arrangements. New people always welcome. Toddler group We meet every Wednesday morning from 11am to 12.30pm in the Trathnona Centre. Anyone in the company of a baby or toddler is welcome to come along for coffee and a chat. €2 donation. Drama Festival Season tickets are now on sale in Murphy’s, Smyth’s & Lá Nua at the amazing value of €50 for ten nights of great drama. Foroige The newly formed Foróige club is up and running and we have just completed our first term of 6 weeks. The girls finished up with an enjoyable Pizza and Video night. The girls organised and ran a cake sale which raised €235. Thanks to everyone who supported them. They also travelled to Carrick on Shannon recently and were awarded their Peace Flag. Their art work is still on display in the apartments beside Supervalu. We wish every one a very happy Christmas. Athletic Club Training is now in full operation on Tuesday and Thursday at 6.00 p.m. and will continue so until the end of winter time. Next Sunday (19th)the Leitrim Indoor Championships take place in Carrick Sports Hall with sprints, longer races, shot, long jump and relay for Under 9 to Under 14. New members welcome. Operation Transformation 5k Walk on Sat 18th Jan at 11am in Manorhamilton, Registration at Bee Pk Resource Centre from 10.30am. Donations kindly accepted however small. Proceeds of registration to North West Simon Community a local charity preventing homelessness in Leitrim, Sligo & Donegal. Families and children urged to take part. Walk starts at Bee Park, heading to Rossinver Rd and Deerpark, Castle St and ending up at Bee Park again. Please come along and support and get fit for the summer
County Council Leitrim County Council wish to advise all households in County Leitrim that all household waste in the County will be collected and charged using a Pay By Weight System from the 1st February 2014 . Please ensure you are registered with a permitted waste collector and are set up om the pay by weight system and that you have 3 bins (black, blue and a brown bin caddy.) Households should also be aware that tagged bins and bags will no longer be collected after the 1st Feb 2014. Please contact your waste collector for further information. “

The Ballinamore Community Arts Group is opening their 7th Annual Junior Art Exhibition at Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore on Saturday 18th January 2014 at 3pm. This very successful project to date involving children of all ages (Under 18yrs) in County Leitrim, encourages your child’s individuality, creativity & imagination. All entries are welcomed as individual entries or through your child’s invited school. The artwork may consist of any medium (pencil, crayon, paint etc) & must be on A4 paper only of landscape or portrait format. All artwork will be framed and hung in the gallery. The €3.00 entry fee covers the cost of the frame. Thereafter all creativity will be returned to the children in the framed format and available for collection for a period of one month after the exhibition closes. Artwork can be dropped off at Solas Art Gallery (Above Four Seasons Garden Centre) from 10am-6pm on Tuesday 7th January – Friday 10th January 2014.
