St. Helen’s are champions
Congratulations to the St Helens Junior team and all their mentors on their great win in Kinnegad last Sunday when they played Monastrevin in the Leinster Junior Club Final. Thank you to all supporters who travelled on the day. It was a great game but a hard fought battle which went to extra time but the girls never gave up and emerged victorious following 20 minutes of extra time.

Casino Royale Theme Night, Friday 8th November, in aid of Talk About It Longford, in Lough Rynn Castle, Mohill, Co Leitrim @7.30pm. Main event of the night is the live Fashion Show, for both ladies and gents, featuring local County Longford & Leitrim businesses, showcasing their finest fashions and latest wears. We will also have Casino Games on the night, guests will be able to enjoy a game or two, of Black Jack or Roulette, and play for some fabulous prizes. Local Band Rhythm & Sticks will also be performing. There will also be plenty of surprises thrown in on the night, and maybe even a few well known faces!! We aim to raise enough funds to begin our work with National Suicide Prevention Centre - Talkaboutit.ie, to begin to provide a much needed service within County Longford. Tickets are €10 or can be paid at the door. We would greatly appreciate your support.

Trócaire’s door-to-door fundraisers will be in your area for a couple of days during November/December 2013. The fundraisers are clearly identifiable as they will be wearing a blue branded Trócaire jacket. Also each fundraiser will be carrying photoID. We have organised indoor underage coaching for all under 8/10 for October and November in the Community Centre Drumlish. This will be a 45 minute session which will be aimed at improving skills of each player. It will finish up with a Xmas party for all kids to finish out year. Under 8 Fridays 6.30-7.15 Under 10 Fridays 7.15-8. All welcome.
All schools re-open this week following the Mid-term break. Motorists are asked to drive slowly and with care on all roads in the area during this week and watch out for unsuspecting children walking or cycling to school. Parents, please ensure your children wear high vis gear if on the roads. Now that Winter –time is here and with the darker mornings /evenings and children alighting from buses please SLOW DOWN and BE SAFE, BE SEEN. We want everyone to be Safe. We hope everyone had a well earned rest during the past week.
The season opened on Friday last with a “bang”. Plenty of full bags were reported with many tired and weary shooters at the end of the day. A competition took place in The Village Inn for the longest pheasant and the heaviest pheasant. A raffle was held on the night also, and a good night was had by all. Congratulations to the lucky winners of prizes.
Congratulations to Maurice Murphy, Gaigue who celebrated his 70th birthday with a mega bash in Dillon’s, Ballinamuck on Friday night last, in the company of his family, relations, in-laws, cousins and many many friends, some of whom travelled long distances to be with him on this special occasion. We join with everyone in wishing Maurice a very happy 70th birthday and hope he celebrated many more birthdays in the years ahead.

Trip to Essert/France
A recent letter received from Marie Christine in Essert in French gives a clear account(in translation) of the Amazing Experience everyone from Ballinamuck had on their recent visit there. Reports indicate everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed the trip. Already some are looking forward to the return visit next year. What wonderful news!
Our sincere sympathy is extended to John Cunningham on the death of his niece, Marie Barrett from Navan recently. May she rest in peace. The death took place recently at Mullingar General Hospital of Jimmy Creegan, Mary St., Drumlish. To his brothers Myles and Matthew, his sisters Eileen and Mary in USA, sister-in-law Kathleen, nephews, nieces, relations and friends we extend our deepest and sincere sympathy.
