Belated Congratulations to Noel and Roisin Smyth on the birth of their baby boy recently. The new arrival is to be named Luke and he is a welcome grandson for Michael and Mary Tully, Rathcor and for Mrs. Mary Smyth, Gelsha. We also take this opportunity to extend good wishes to Michael Tully who is unwell at the present time. No doubt you enjoyed having your family home from the U.S.A. and England in recent times and thanks for the lovely hospitality during the week.
Congratulations and best wishes to Paddy Higgins, Ballymore who celebrates his 88th birthday today November 6th. Paddy is the Hon. President of the Ballymore GAA club and is a former great Colmcille player and has some lovely stories of his playing days. Recently Paddy underwent an eye operation and is now making a good recovery at home so we wish you well and hope you have a great day Paddy and that you have many more celebrations.
Patrons of the Country Markets in Granard are asked to please take note that the market has moved from the community centre and will now be held in Gerry Kiernan’s premises on upper Main Street (beside Kiernan’s butchers) starting this Friday November 8th. The markets start at 8-30am and continues until 11am.
Sincere and deepest sympathy is extended to Johnny and Phil Higgins and family Waterford and formerly Ballymore on the sad death of their son in law, Gary Wyse which occurred suddenly on October 22nd last in Ballygunner Co. Waterford. The late Gary was beloved husband of the former Michelle Higgins and he was a member of Waterford city council. Aged just fifty years Gary is also survived by his sons, Darren, Jason and Adam, his princess daughter Natasha, his mother Eily and extended family, to who we offer our sincere sympathy at this sad time. May he rest in peace.

We offer sincere sympathy to Lizzie and Seamus Boyle and family, Coolcor on the death of Lizzie’s mother, Mary White which occurred in Cork on Sunday last October 27th. Mary’s death is all the more poignant as she was pre-deceased by her daughter Nora McLoughlin on September 22nd last. May both Nora and Mary rest in peace.
Public prayers for the faithful departed will be offered in Granardkille cemetery on Sunday 10th November at 12-30 pm and in the new cemetery on Sunday November 17th at 12-30pm.
Recently retired bishop of Ardagh & Clonmacnois, Bishop Colm O’Reilly, will officially launch the feasibility study recently completed on the project to purchase the NAMA owned property at Rathcronan and create a visitor centre for the area. The event will take place on Tuesday evening next, Nov. 12th, at 8pm in the Community Centre, Barrack St. Other speakers will include RTE correspondent for the midlands, Ciaran Mullooly. This will be an interesting and informative event and everyone is invited to attend.
The Mulligan Sisters will perform Sacred and Operatic Arias,Classical songs and musical theatre favourites at the Church of St. Camillus, Killucan, Co.Westmeath on Saturday November 30th at 8 pm. Tickets at 10 euro are available at the door of the venue.
