5k Run/Walk

The 5k Run/Walk/Jog hosted by The Mostrim Players Dramatic Society was held on October 27th and it was a real success. The first runner home was Thomas Doyle, under 18: with a time of 25.13, 2nd under 18 was Tiernan Hussey at 30.25, 3rd place was Caolan Hussey at 39.45. The over 18’s was won by Geraldine Jones at 26.00, Patricia Lynn came in 2nd at 27.10 and 3rd place went to Pauric Jones at 29.01. The Best Fancy Dress under 18 went to Ava Costello and the first over 18 went to duo Karl and Noreen Grant and first home on a bike was Cillian Jones. A word of thanks also to Ciera Duffy and Supervalu and Barry Kane and Costcutters for their kind sponsorship on the day. Donations were received on the day also and we would like to thank those who kindly made those donations. Well done to all. Mostrim players present 3 one act Irish Comedies in The Park House Hotel on 28th, 29th and 30th of November. All plays directed by Vanessa Flood and Produced by Elaine Kelly. A night of laughter, fun and frolics promised. A host of local actors.  Don’t miss out. Admission is 10 euro and concessions are available at 8 euro. Tickets will be on sale very soon! (please note that should children wish to attend they must be accompanied by an adult).


Scor na nOg

Scor na nOg County final will be held in Ardagh Community Centre on Friday 22nd November at 7.30pm. Mostrim will be represented in the solo singing, Ballad Group, Instrumental, Novelty Act and Sean Nos Dancing. The question time will take place the following week in Aras ui Bhriain. Tables of 4. Please support the local participants.

Traders Association A.G.M.

The Edgeworthstown Traders A.G.M. was held last Tuesday 29th October in which a large crowd attended to hear Sergeant Niall Brennan discuss crime prevention. Also, a new Committee was elected. Chairman: Gerry Lynn, Secretary: Mary Greene and Treasurer: Ciara Duffy. Thanks to all who attended.



Edgeworthstown Christmas Lights 2013 – Halloween Hamper Draw - Thank you to everyone who supported the Halloween Draw. All funds raised goes to Edgeworthstown Christmas Lights. The winner of the Hamper was Sarah Quinn, Quinns Corner House, Edgeworthstown.

The Joe Callaghan Branch of CCE

The Joe Callaghan Branch of CCE will take place on Thursday 7th November at 9 pm in the Pavillion on the Green, Edgeworthstown. As The Longford Fleadh is being hosted by the local branch this coming May, new members are encouraged. Membership will be taken on Thursday night after the AGM. All welcome.

The Mulligan Sisters

The Mulligan Sisters will perform Operatic and Sacred Arias along with Musical Theatre favourites in concert at the Church of St Camillus, Killucan, Co Westmeath on Sat November 30th at 8p.m. Tickets 10 euro, available at the door.

Mostrim GAA

Martin Gilchrist’s team on duty this weekend, Tom Victory, Tony Gaffney, Tony Garvey. Anyone interested in signing up for the yearly Lotto please contact Tony Garvey, Martin Gilchrist or any officer of the Club. This money helps the Clubs running costs- any member who wants to find out where their money goes can come to a monthly meeting, these are advertised in the Club notes.

Foroige Group

If you between the ages of 12 and 18, you are welcome to join the Foroige Group from 7.30p.m. to 9p.m. every Friday in The Green. Call in and find out all about us. It is a great way to get involved in the community. We also visit other clubs throughout the county. We also go places, cinema and bowling are only a few of the activities.

Lisnanagh Group Water Scheme

A meeting for the members of the above group water scheme serving the townslands of Lisnanagh, Camlisk, Lackan, Ballynagoshen and Corboy will be held on Monday 11th November in the Mostrim Arms at 8pm. Topic for discussion is future responsibility of group members and trustees towards maintenance of the scheme. All households on the mains water supply are invited to attend.
