As part of the celebrations marking the 175th anniversary of St. John the Baptist Church, Whitehall, Castlepollard, there will be Mass celebrated in the Tridentine Rite (the Extraordinary Form), on Friday next, November 8th, at 8.00pm. All are welcome to attend.
The local North Westmeath community were saddened to learn of the death which took place on Wednesday, September 25th, peacefully at her residence, of Mrs. Dympna Bartley (nee O’Farrell), Drumcree, Collinstown, Co. Westmeath. The remains reposed at her residence on Friday, September 27th, and subsequently removed to St, Mary’s Church, Collinstown, arriving at 6.30pm. The funeral took place following Requiem Mass at 11.00am on Saturday, September 28th, and internment took place afterwards to the local cemetery. The attendance at the removal, Mass and funeral was very large and widely representative of the esteem in which the deceased was held. Dympna was wife of the late Johnny and mother of the late Michael. She will be sadly missed not alone by her immediate family, but by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her sons Pat (Canada), and Sean (UK), daughters Pamela (Comaskey), Bernadette (Burke) and Eileen (Healy), brothers, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
The next meeting of Castlepollard Book Club will take place on Tuesday, November 12th, in Castlepollard Library from 6.45pm to 7.45pm. The book for discussion is “The Crocodile By The Door” by Selina Guinness. The local community were saddened to learn of the death which took place, peacefully, at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, on Friday, October 11th, of Mrs. Maureen Rogan (nee Flynn), Mooretown, Fore, Castlepollard, and late of Kilemessan, Co.Meath. The remains reposed at the residence of her son, Anthony, from Saturday, October 12th, until removal on Monday morning, October 14th, to St. Feichin’s Church, Fore. The funeral took place following Requiem Mass at 11.00am in St. Feichin’s Church, and internment took place afterwards to Kilmessan Cemetery. The attendance at the removal, Mass and funeral was large and widely representative of the esteem in which the deceased was held.
The deceased will be sadly missed not alone by her immediate family, but by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her loving son Anthony, sister Lena, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is tendered.

A Table Quiz in aid of Castlepollard Tidy Towns Committee will take place in Hotel Castlepollard on Friday night, November 15th, starting 8.30pm. 30.00 euro per table of 4. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
A Cake Sale and Coffee Morning will take place on Sunday next, November 10th, in the Parish Community Centre, Church Street, between 12.15pm and 1.30pm. Monies raised are in aid of parish funds for St. Michael’s Parish, Castlepollard, Castletown and Finea. Donations of cakes, buns, pies etc., will be most welcome. All are invited to attend.
The Parish Christmas Concert, Social and Annual Draw will take place in Hotel Castlepollard on Wednesday, December 18th. Draw cards will be out mid-November, and details to follow.
