The judging period is almost over but that doesn’t mean we can take our eye off the ball. The two events were very well attended and our guide Fr. Liam Courtney gave a very well received presentation about Drumlish from 1832 down to the 1950’s. The commentary on the walk from the Mill up to the Crossroads and down the Main Street was very interesting and enlightening. The stories, anecdotes and yarns made a most pleasant and enjoyable evening – the commentary has all been recorded for future use. We were delighted to welcome the County Heritage Officer for the unveiling of the bog oak sculpture, Ancient Root donated to the village by local Sculptor and Artist, Brendan Collum... the plaque was unveiled by Dr. Kathleen Duffy and our two public representatives Cllrs. Gerry Brady and Martin Mulleady paid tribute to the artist and to what the art points to i.e. beauty = truth, and the enduring quality that transcends time. The champagne popped and was enjoyed by those present, the piece is in pride of place opposite the Garda Barracks in Drumlish for all to see, appreciate and enjoy. For photo update check out Drumlish Heritage & History on Facebook.
