Congratulations to Declan Rowley (son of the late Jimmy and Annie), Esker, Killoe on the well earned and deserving position as new principal of St Mel’s College, Longford. The parish and widespread wish you and your family many years of good health, happiness with great success in your capacity to continue leading St Mel’s College and it’s students upwards and onwards with a noble education . Congratulations to Deirdre Kenny, daughter of Mickie and Bridie, Clontumpher, Killoe who exchanged nuptial vows with Jimmy Murphy, son of John and Rose, Co Limerick joined by families and friends in St Mary’s Church, Ennybegs, Killoe. Afterwards a reception of fine food fare music agus ceol was enjoyed by everyone in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon. The parish extend good wishes to Jimmy, Deirdre and their families for a long life of good health and fortune.

Ah! Back to the early morning, rub the eyes, arise and shine, it’s bus time again ! We wish everyone good luck as they start another chapter in their lives, also hope all leaving certs will be happy with their chosen course. Sincere sympathy is extended to the King family, The Shop, Ballinalee, on the sad bereavement of their brother Noel who was laid to rest last week. The parish express condolence to his brother Jim, sister Peggy, extended families, friends, requiem mass was celebrated in the Holy Trinity Church, Ballinalee with burial in St Emer’s Cemetery, Ballinalee. May he rest in peace. Also the parish express condolence to Richard and Mary Monahan, (nee Quinn, Cullyfad, Killoe) and families Muckerstaff, Granard on the sad bereavement of their son in law, Bennie McGahern, Kilcogy, Co Cavan, his wife Pauline and children, cousins Ann Davis and family, Castlebrock, Ballinalee, extended families, friends. A monster barn dance in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and research dept will be held in Rawle’s Pub, Ballinalee on Friday 30 August 2013. Killoe Community Games End of Summer Disco will take place on Saturday night next, the 31st. August, 2013 in Enybegs Community Centre from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission €2, strictly U-16. The annual general meeting of Killoe Community Games will take place in Enybegs Community Centre on Wednesday, 4th September at 9 p.m. We have a very dedicated, hardworking, enthusiastic and friendly committee here in Killoe. We would love to see some new members coming on board to help us continue our good work. Eamon Keogh and Shane Thompson competed in the National Finals in Athlone recently.
